Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Braun BPM2510 is a wrist blood pressure monitor with a unique sensor that guides you into finding the right measuring position close to heart level for accurate readings.

Naturally, if you care about your health, you care about your blood pressure. To treat hypertension successfully, your doctor may recommend that you take your blood pressure at home regularly and record the results. This information can be very valuable for your treatment--but only if it is accurate. That's why it's so important to hold your wrist monitor in the right position--at heart level.

Clinically tested accuracy
The Braun BPM2510 is clinically proven to be accurate. It's tested conform to internationally accepted standards "AAMI-SP10" (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation), BHS (British Hypertension Society) and ESH (European Society of Hypertension).Unique Sensor Technology
The interactive display guides you step by step to find the correct measuring position close to heart level.

Large display and buttons
The Braun BPM2510 is equipped with large buttons that are easy to operate and a large, easy-to-read display for better visibility.

Memory feature
The Braun BPM2510 has a memory feature that enables users to record up to 30 individual readings.

Comfort inflation control
Individualised cuff inflation for improved comfort and shorter measuring time. Unlike most other types of blood pressure monitors, the Braun BPM2510 determines the upper limit for the inflation while the cuff is inflating. This results in a measurement in which the user is not subjected to larger cuff pressures than really needed. Also, this feature shortens the measuring time. In general, the typical re-inflation encountered in most other wrist monitors is avoided.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wise investment., 30 May 2003
By A Customer
I don't consider myself a gadget or health freak, but know enough about blood pressure and how it is linked to heart problems to invest in one of these. When it arrived I was surprised to see how small the box was. My main concern was how accurate can a device like this be? My question was answered when my wife used it directly after a blood pressure check with her GP. It is very accurate. It is incredibly easy to use and the guide that indicates whether or not the monitor is in line with your heart is worth paying the extra for (this feature is not included on the lower models). The manufacturers website provides full instructions, so it's worth viewing this before you make purchase. The biggest advantage in having a monitor is so that you can take your blood pressure readings more frequently then you would at your GP, and also that you get a more accurate reading since you do not go through the pressure of travelling to your surgergy and then waiting for your GP, both of which can increase blood pressure and thereby have the potential to give a false reading. It's strange how investing in one of these also kick starts you into thinking a bit more carefully about what you eat and exercise! All in all, the best £62 I've spent this year.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to use, but not accurate, 21 Jul 2004
By Trevor Chadwick (York, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a brilliantly designed unit, built with typically German expertise. It is commendably easy to use, with the advantage that it is not necessary to remove the outer clothing to place the usual upper arm cuff in position. I bought this unit for my job, but the unit I purchased was certainly under reading by some 10 to 15 mm of Hg when compared with a £2000 reference unit (an ambulatory blood pressure monitor). That's not accurate enough for hypertension diagnosis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful-looking but highly inaccurate, 18 Sep 2004
I thought I would do myself a favour and keep track of my BP...then I decided to visit the nurse and calibrate it against her mercury sphyganometer.......enlightening !

Now I take 4-5 readings on my little gadhet one after another.....not one is similar. It bounces all over the chart....one reading would suggest my heart should be pounding so critical is the reading on the hypertension scale.....the next is normal......yet a third is mildly hypertensive........every time a different reading as if it is generating random numbers. I am told electronic readers are not especially good....even in hospitals......so I am down to visiting the nurse for readings over a period of time.

I still like the devic aesthetically, but would I want to risk my life on its outputs.......not at all......I am afriaid it is not a medical device it is a gadget.......

The Doctor suggested bringing it in for calibration and it was out by 10-15mg - and I was using it correctly... I threw it away after that and got an upper arm model.
