Product Description

Amazon.co.uk review
The Art of Losing, American Hi-Fi's second release, is a virtual tribute to singer Stacy Jones's modern-rock record collection, mining everyone from Sonic Youth ("Teenage Alien Nation") to Bow Wow Wow ("The Art of Losing") to Oasis ("This Is the Sound") while preserving American Hi-Fi's own endearing pop-punk identity. With producer Nick Launay, the band reins in the prankishness of its self-titled debut, which launched the hit "Flavor of the Weak", and makes a determined bid to walk among of its idols. --Aidin Vaziri

CD Description
Second album from Boston foursome American Hi-Fi and the follow up to their eponymous debut album, which was released in 2001. A fusion of pop, rock, punk and rock 'n' roll, with influences of Cheap Trick and the Foo Fighters. Includes 'The Art Of Losing', the first single to be taken from the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a superb follow up!!!, 3 Mar 2003
By A Customer
After being stunned by the first album - not only by it's content but also by the fact that it wasn't given more publicity, I was eagerly awaiting the release of Hi-Fi's second effort. Despite not having the vast range of styles of the first album, they appear to have found a distinctive catchy, edgy rock/punk/metal style. Stacy's vocals compliment each track so well, and I guarantee that after you play this album a few times you will never forget the melody of each track. Fans of mainstream punk will like it and fans of old-skool rock will love it. A definite mainstay in the cd player.

4.0 out of 5 stars A live perfomance that sold this album 2 me!, 9 Feb 2003
By Im always a Punk In Drublic (The little shop around the corner) - See all my reviews
As an owner of their first album 'American Hi-Fi', I was suprised to hear that they were still a supporting act. Last Thursday I went to see Sum 41, and the first act i saw was American Hi-Fi. They played some of their new song of this album, and I have to admit, they were catchy. This maybe down to their increadablr live performance, but from what I heard, I was impressed. So impressed in fact, that I ordered it as soon as i could. So my general advice is, if you like the So-Cal Punk scene, or the pop punk scene (including such bands as Green Day, Offspring, Blink 182 and Sum 41) buy this album. You can't go wrong!

3.0 out of 5 stars I haven't heard their other albums, 15 Oct 2003

The thread running along other reviews of this album seem to suggest that it's a disappointment compared to their earlier work. Well I haven't heard any of their stuff before and I think this CD is quite good.
Tracks such as "The Art Of Losing" "Beautiful Disaster" and "Happy" rank up their with the best that modern rock has to offer (such as Foo Fighters) and certainly made the album a worthwhile purchase for me. It's not original or groundbreaking, but if it's your kind of thing then i would certainly reccomend it.

Its not an amazing album, mainly being carried by the success of the single "The Art of Losing". However, its a good and catchy Rock/Pop album with several good tracks. Read more

I had high hopes for this album. Seriously, I did. The first American Hi-Fi album was a good quality mix of Emo, Punk and an occasional heavy riff every now and then. Read more
