But they're accosted by the criminal Snyder (Rand Kingsley), a rogue ex-student of Grandpa's who kidnaps the boys as part of a scheme to get to their FBI agent dad, Sam (Alan McRae). But Snyder doesn't know just how skilled his abductees are.

This was a fave of mine when I was 9-10 years old although it's not held up for me anywhere near as well as other kids films of the time. The story is simple but forgettable, the dialogue is often clunky and some of the acting is quite poor. Still, although it isn't as good now that I'm in my late twenties compared to nearly twenty years ago it still has a certain charm to it. It's funny in parts, particularly fight scenes featuring the youngest kid Tum-Tum, and the general feel of the film makes it enjoyable enough for a rental. 2.5/5

This, together with the 3 Ninjas knuckle up feature the same 3 boy actors & are the best by far of the series. It's obvious, in this film, that they are feeling their way with each other whereas in the later film they appear much more natural. Furthermore, the plot line in the second film is much more plausible & defined. That said this film is not meant to be a serious work of art but a fun film for kids where the characters are not so defined that they can't identify with one or each of the 3 boys. As for skills, all 3 of the boys show some well-worked movements as they try & defeat the baddies - who, in this case, are led by a former pupil of their grandfather - Schneider; he's a black market arms supplier who just happens to thwart the FBI agents led by the Ninja's dad. There is the usual disbelief by the father in the boys' capabilities & the usual reconciliation both to the boys & the grandfather. A film that most under 10s would like but one word of warning - if you have an under 10 child (not wishing to be sexist but more likely a boy) then be prepared to put up with him going around saying 'ayah' as he practices every ninja kick move!

It's such a great film. All the 3 ninjas' series is! I'm 13 and do karate so i can look at this film and use it to improve my moves, because i try to copy theirs'! The two eldest boys are soooooo cute and the youngest is so sweet. It's about 3 boys Rocky, Colt and Tum Tum who get ninja traing from their grandpa, a ninja expert, and they get up to all sorts of adventure excitement! All the series is a mix between "Karate Kid" and"Home Alone"!!! They are really funny and have some great one liners. Definitely one to buy!!!!!!!
