Product Description

Product Description

In Ultima Online: Age of Shadows, fans will be introduced to two new professions and an exciting new realm to explore and settle. The immersive nature of Ultima Online's world will also continue to expand through the introduction of the House Design Tool. This tool, accessible to anyone who owns a house within the game, will allow players to build new houses from scratch or modify existing ones with compelling new structures, spatial elements and textures.

In addition to building homes, players will have two new professions to master: Paladin and Necromancer. The chivalrous Paladin is a courageous warrior fortified with awesome new powers and the cunning Necromancer is a wielder of the darkest magic and forbidden secrets. As players role-play either of these two opposing forces they will discover a large new landmass to conquer and settle.

As players explore this new area within the game, they will be able to utilise an enhanced magic system featuring new spells and powerful items. Additionally, new combat techniques and weapons add more depth and challenge to the fighting experience, and will be useful when facing the dozens of new monsters roaming the dark realm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why is this game better than the other expansions for UO?, 18 Jan 2003
Many of you may of read on other UO sites or heard on the grapevine that AoS is selling very well and hasn't even hit the shelves. Its got 3 weeks left until it starts shipping around the world and arriving for people who pre-ordered, yet already so many people have signed up. So I really put some thought into why, seeing as its just another silly expansion. Or is it? Well apparently not, as its loaded with more extra's than an apocalypse movie. I mean sure, apparently 3rd dawn was as well, but heck, what a let down that was. A few shoddy looking 3d graphics were added and thousands of fans were let down. And then the next installment - Lord Blackthorns Revenge, seemed to be a ray of sunshine. But was it really? New art, a few new monsters, new rideables, new scenarios, but nothing truly staggering. So why should we brace ourselves for the next part of a seemingly average series of expansions? Well most obviously, there's the customizable housing, and more room to build in Malas, the new land which can hold 1500 new houses, and decent sized ones at that. Also, it seems to cover itself well by not allowing keeps and castles (very large houses) to be built and suck up the space, keeping most veterans out of Malas and giving new players a chance to have a whole lot of fun. Secondly, new skills - Paladin and Necromancy traits can be built around existing characters. Both include new moves and spells etc. The third new aspect is the fact that you can make amazing new craftable magic weapons - this is the part I know least about, so I wont pretend to be intelligent. Also, many new monsters and rideables are being incorporated into the game to give it yet more edge. New dungeons, new quests, and new scenarios are all in the pipeline, but we've heard it all before. So why the huge interest apart from the above factors? Again, origin cover themselves with the ingenious plan of making a rare item available to you if you preorder in a limited time zone. good god, what a frenzy of fans this must of created. If you preorder, then you get the limited, one a kind, hooded shroud of darkness. Sounds really cool, i want one, but yet if everyone is ordering them, surely there will be thousands in circulation. And once again, those dreaded veterans will order before younger players get a chance due to awareness and age, making the name calling and abuse boil up again between both parties (newb, newblette, l33t f00l, etc). To sum it up, im very excited, and ive played ultima online for 24 months. many of my real life and onlien friends play, and let me tell you, theres nothing like a band of knights and magicians with a few dragons invading a dungeon and working as a team.

Age of the Shadows looks amazing, both for new and old players alike, and if i may suggest, buy it online now, so as you get your special reward in time and dont miss out. order before february 10th and you can recieve the robe i mentioned earlier.

I know im going to get my copy very soon, perhaps today. dont let yourself miss the chance to join the ultima revoloution: it always has and in my opinion always will be the best multiplayer online experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent. The only game you need., 9 Jun 2003

Probably the nearest you are going to get to role playing without having a bunch of bearded missfits sitting around a table covered in dice, charts and lead figures. A truly open environemnt to explore and pretty much an endless game. Very good, stable and fun. A hint, if you are only on a dial up modem install the 2D version. It runs fine then. The 3D lags to death on anything under a broadband set-up whatever your graphics card. Buy it. Live it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultima Online: Age Of Shadows, 17 Jan 2003
With the upcoming expansion to the Ultima Online Universe, lots of new changes are coming to one of the most popular Massivly Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games ever created. You choose how you live your life, be it a warrior, a magician practicing magic, or even a merchant. From playing this game for over 3 years now, i can recommend it to anyone and is enjoyable from the moment you log in to the game. With the new expanion 'Age of Shadows' A new land mass is being released, capable of new real estates if you wish to own your own home and decorate it. 2 new character classes are available, from the Holy Paladin to a Dark, Evil Necromancer practicing dark arts and a whole bunch of other bits such as being able to build your own house, how you like it, buildin each bit of the wall, floor to make your ideal home. From what is already here from Ultima Online, this will be the best expansion to Ultima Online So far, and can highly recommend it to anyone as soon as its released...
