For the price these have to be some of the best value PMR446 radios around. They're fully compatible with the PMR446 European standard, as well as taking the standard 2-pin headset adaptor -- very useful to me as I needed something to work with a motorcycle headset. The display is clear and has an optional backlight, and the buttons are large enough to be able to press even wearing bike gloves. Some of the functions are perhaps a little cryptic until you read the manual fully but make sense soon enough -- and every button press optionally causes a loud confirmation beep. There are eight volume levels which range from a whisper to really quite loud, a page function, and if no transmission is made/received after ten seconds the units switch into a useful power-saver mode, which means they have pretty good battery life. The handsets are slightly chunky but should fit into most reasonable-sized jacket pockets. Alternatively they come with a solid-feeling belt clip and a wrist strap, so you should be able to find somewhere safe to keep them. They seem fairly rugged and are claimed to be splashproof although I haven't had to test this yet! The VOX capability can be turned into a baby monitor type thing which could be useful for some people and they also have the ability to listen in to two channels at once. This could be particularly good when out on a bike as one channel can be for your pillion rider and a second for anyone else riding in the same group. They may not have quite as many features as some as the more expensive PMR radios now available, but to get a pair of good working systems for half the price of a single top-of-the-range handset makes them well worthwhile. Recommended.
