In this vague tie-in to the 1997 film of the same name, you take the role of Batman, Robin or Batgirl as you try to stop Mr.Freezes from freezing the world.
You had all the tools and gadgets available to you as seen in the film as you move around Gotham City as you try to find Freeze.
Unfortunatly, you can't go in every building in Gotham but you can go in enough to give you a sense of freedom. As well as Gotham City itself and the Batcave, the player can also go in to Wayne Manor where they can train and learn some tricks to help beat Freeze. The player is also given a cut-scene whenever something important happens, such as leaving or entering the Batcave in your vehicle (the Batmobile, Robins or batgirls bike) depending on which character you select.When you find a clue you use the equipment in the Batcave to analyse what you've found in a bid to determine where he'll strike next.

The developers have tried to incorparate 'a bit of everything' in this game, namely driving, fighting and puzzle-solving to name but a few but it doesn't quite work.
While the developers must be commended for this, the different aspects of the game seem neglected as there is so many and the graphics and gameplay is barely above average.
Good try though and with a bit more time to make, this could have been a top-class game.
'Batman and Robin' would really benefit from a remake and making into the game it trys and deserves to be.

Okay, how do I sum up Batman & Robin the video game? Well to start off it is much better than the embarrassing 1997 film. You can play as any one of the the three heroes (Batman, Robin or Batgirl) and have access to all their weapons that were featured in the film as well as some new ones. You have a neigh-on GTA-style free-roaming city, which was quite a nice change at the time of it's release (1998) with, frankly increadible graphics for the old original Playstation. Another good thing is that a lot of the woeful gags from the film are not included in the game except for the depiction of Bane, who still is more a dumb panto henchman.

However the game does have it's faults. The camera is bad and you often find yourself falling off ledges to your death and, seeing as you can't save during a mission, it gets annoying having to do the same things again and again and again. Also the controls for your character are always a little slow therefore meaning that the most average of henchmen can easily take you out.

Still, if you see it and are a Batman fan, I would recommend you buy it because, aside it's faults, you do feel like your the caped crusader as in between crimes you have to collect clues and look at them, on the bat computer in the bat cave or various computers around the city, to work out where the next crime will take place.

Worth a look at least.
