Product Description
Product Description
Half human, half vampire, Agent Blood Rayne has superhuman strength, agility and senses that give her skills far beyond the scope of a normal human. This formidable huntress works for the Brimstone Society--an underground organisation that seeks out and destroys supernatural threats.

Two missions five years apart turn out to be connected by one man: Jurgen Wulf. For years, he's been searching for powerful occult artefacts that would bring Nazi Germany into a new age of domination during WWII. Blood Rayne is the world's only chance to defeat his elite Nazi army and prevent it from releasing untold horror.

5.0 out of 5 stars Max Payne Style Horror, 15 May 2003
Ok then ladies and gentlemen, I felt i had to write a review on this game because to be quite honest i believe it to be one of the best games on the xbox!

The game has a brilliant storyline sucking you into the thick of the action from the word go. With the story progressing at a regular pace without getting to bogged down. The controls are simple and effective being able to pull off combination moves, and complex killings simply and without hassel.

Ok, so whats the best way to describe the game? Well its basically Nocturne meets Max Payne. You run around as a half vampire Killing Nazis and all mannor of vampires, zombies and monsters in the most goriest of fashions using the two blades strapped to your arms. Or for the gun ho fans you can run around with dual guns, machine guns or pistols, in "any" combination and mow down the enemy by the score. And the highlight of the game, by the second chapter you pick up a vision mode that allows you to see in slow motion, so you can dodge bullets, or even cleave away body parts in slow motion in an extreamly bloody fashion. And the best thing about it.... You get the slow motion for aslong as you want!

The final thing about Blood Rayne that you may wish to know, is that the game length is massive, well over 25 levels and not a single one is boring.

I swear to you all - this game rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality gameplay, 22 Feb 2004
By A Customer
A great game, highly under-rated i've heard complaints before about it having a random storyline but thats random in comparison to what? The storys great and the gradual acquisition
of different moves and a series of altered perceptions with which to view the world add up to make for some seriously addictive gameplay. Buy it to try to prove me wrong!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good in some areas, let down in others!, 9 Jun 2005
First of all, this is overall a pretty good game. The graphics are pretty good, and I rather like the dismemberment of your foes. The only two problem's I have with the look of this game is theenviroment's can be a little bland and dull, and when you feed, blood gushes out in big spots, rather than a spray. Fair enough, it is a fairly old game, but this is an xbox game..
Sound overall is somewhat a disappointment. Weapons sound all very similar to each other, and voice acting is, well, crap. Also, the sound Rayne makes when she feed's doesnt sound very convincing.
I kinda like the Rayne character, I think she is an interesting character (basically Blade meets Lara Croft), but too much attention was used on making her, and other characters, sexy. During the first few levels, you are "assisted" by a similar 'creature' to yourself, Mynce, who basically doesnt have to move for her breasts to bounce up and down! Like I said, I do like Rayne, and I look forward to further exploration of her character in the sequel, and even more in the forthcoming movie (Kristanna Loken as Rayne! No one is better for that role!)
A strong point of this game is the different senses Rayne has, my favourite being Dilated Perception (basically slowed time, for as long as you wish), which is pretty fun for a while anyway. The other's, Aura sense and Extruded view are less fun and more helpful (although you dont really need them too much)
Blood Rage is fun and quite violent (some serious dismemberment here!),but again to a limit.
Weapons, sadly, aren't this game's strong point, although Rayne's 2 large blades are a nice touch. Combat however, is sloppy. One button for combat?!? this basically means only one combo, which is quite poor, and very tiresome after your 100th kill. You could use guns more often, but this isnt really that fun.You dont get to choose what weapons you take with you (they are picked up for you! Why in God's name the developers done this I have no idea, I thought that all games with guns would at least let you choose your weapons!)
This game has similarities to a more recent (and much much better)action game The Punisher.
Despite the negatives i have mentioned, this is a pretty decent game, with an "Underworld" feel to it. While it is selling pretty cheap just now, I'd play it safe and rent it first.

1.0 out of 5 stars What can I say - poor
Nothing more to it really. Graphics and game play are just not what I would expect from an Xbox game albeit an old title but still very poor indeed.
