This is a camera made by Aiptek and is a true 1.3 megapixel camera. It has a 320x240 video mode, a 640x480 still/video mode, and a 1280x960 still mode. It also has two webcam modes, and makes AVI files for up to 30 sec or so of video. It compresses a 1.3MP still image to approx 40-80K in JPG format into it's piggy back 16MB flash board in about 4 seconds. Takes pretty good pictures but suffers from low sensitivity to light. No flash but has a viewfinder and a beeper to help knwo what's going on. It needs room light like an office or more to take good pics. It has been known to eat batteries but it is very small and self powers from the USB port if you plug it in you don't need batteries. The LCD controls display is easy to read and obvious in its use. The two buttons can seem odd at first but well thought out when you try to use. There are several upgrade versions of this cam in the Pencam SD (has an SD card slot) and the 3.1 Megapixel Megapencam-X versions. Each use similar drivers and apps. Often packaged with Ulead apps that are the best part of the buy!
All in all a good camera, pretty rugged but not sealed. I use mine in a Zip-Lok baggie at the beach, etc. I have also integrated the login of this unit in several designs. It can be controlled by a PC via the USB driver to take pics, switch modes, clear flash memory, download pics, etc. There are pretty good Linux drivers available also.
