Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Though Conflict: Desert Storm II runs the risk of seeming too insensitive even for video game players, this sequel is still set in the original 1991 Gulf War. It's a squad-based shooter that follows the testosterone-enriched adventures of soldiers Bradley, Foley, Connors and Jones as they travel 300 km further behind enemy lines beginning with--and couldn't you just guess it--a rescue mission at a downed Black Hawk helicopter within a heavily fortified city.

Of course, replicating dangerously jingoistic American movies is exactly what Conflict: Desert Storm II is all about and there's a ton of new hardware in this sequel to get even the most steadfast pacifist reaching for the Arnie one-liners. You've got new phosphor grenades, a laser designator to call in helicopters and jet planes and, best of all, the chance to jump in a jeep and spray bad guys with heavy machine gun fire.

As well as adding new features Conflict: Desert Storm II also fixes problems with the original game, in particular the often highly erratic frame rate, which is a lot smoother than before. The co-op mode is also back and better than ever, especially as you can now pick any level from the single-player mode to play through at any time. --David Jenkins

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 29 Jan 2004
The first game was great. This one is excellent. The graphics and scenery are amazing. The storyline is brilliant.

A fun and exciting game where you control a squad of 4 SAS or US Special Forces soldiers. You can switch very easily to any of your 4 men whilst the others fire and move independently, or under your orders. You get to drive landrovers and armoured vehicles, which is very enjoyable.

If you have a child or friend who wants to play too then the 2 player game is a very welcome addition.

Not quite Medal of Honor but almost. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good quality and action packed gaming.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great game, 30 Nov 2004
i have completed this game and it is great. the controls are easy once you get the hang of them which isnt long and the missions are very varied, from escaping prision to tracking down the big guns, i may not be the most experienced gamer but it is a good game and i would reconend it to anyone. the only disappiontments are firstly its lengh, when i completed it i was suprised it was already over, the trouble is you cant put it down. you can choose between two different groups with little difference, all in all i enjoyed it and hope you do if you get it

5.0 out of 5 stars forget your job and relationships for a few days. Play DSII!, 15 Jan 2004

After being thouroghly diappointed with MOH:RS which i completed in several hours and didn't add anything in terms of gameplay development or interest in the form of new weapons or abilities to MOH:FL, i picked up this game on spec.
Wow! Didn't play DSI so i can't comment on improvements but this is a game which really makes you think. You cannot just blast your way from one end to the other (at least not on medium level). You really have to think tactically and use the skills and weapons of the squad you have. Careful placement of your squad is vital to success on the missions and it is fun to use each of the squad members in turn during the different missions. Do not simply use one player to complete each section but use all of the squad by placing them in strategic positions and using the orders system to be sure they carry out their set tasks. It is the best squad system i have ever used in a console game and really works although takes a little getting used to. Try it , you'll love it!
