5.0 out of 5 stars truly Higher Planes, 18 Aug 2003
By A Customer
Jimi Tenor makes his debut on Kitty-Yo with Higher Planes, yet another step away from the lauded Warp days & Sugar Daddy. Which is a blessing. Jimi Tenor shows himself to be a jazz virtuoso as well as ace composer of cinematic funk influenced big band. Jimi is no electronic Elton. He once again features solos on flute, Tenor sax, organ, Rhodes, to start. Then ventures into jazz rock with lyrics thematic of Finnish forest ritual, with slushy drums, guitar & organ. For those fans of Lalo Schifrin like Jimi himself, there is Dirty Jimi which surpasses TV detective parody by really taking the suspense further with tremendous composition. Tracks like Expatriot show off his classical roots. All & all a great listen, something you'll enjoy listening to often!

5.0 out of 5 stars Got change for a tenor?, 11 Mar 2004

(REAL NAME)
Yes indeed.
Jimi Tenor is cool incarnate.
The bloke who resembles 'Joe 90' has a incredible talent for making you want to slide into your kitchen on your knees pretending to play the Fender Rhodes.
Any of Jimi Tenors' albums have enough quirk and solid musical ingenuity to turn the ears of even the most cynical of critics.
Boundless energy radiates from this album and you wouldn't be blamed for a giving a quick complimentary smile when you first hear it. This music is infectious and creatively it stands out from the crowd.
Jimi's voice is like a ballon in a tornado. It rises and falls and wraps itself round every lick in some kind of a tonal rainbow. Perfick.
Ex-chellantay Jeeemy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Jimi!
Eh the little queen from Finland comes out with a really "kinky" album! The style goes over and around the old "GROOVE" of the 70's funky, which might feel a little old-fashioned... Read more
