Produced by the seemingly chameleonic producer T Bone Burnett (who previously revived traditional bluegrass with spectacular success on O Brother, Where Art Thou?), the septuagenarian legend Tony Bennett and his unlikely contemporary foil KD Lang affectionately court a dozen songs from the Louis Armstrong repertoire with the warmth and natural grace that have been a deceptively effortless Bennett trademark for 50-plus years.

The pair kick proceedings off with a playful, irony-free "Exactly Like You", then perform a tender vocal waltz across both the ages and the masterful, sympathetic orchestrations of the late Peter Matz, one of Bennett's longtime collaborators. But it's on the more melancholy performances, like "If We Never Meet Again", "I'm Confessin'" and the Armstrong perennials "Wonderful World" and "Lucky Old Sun" that the pair tap into something akin to timeless musical telepathy. Her own talents hardly in need of burnishing, Lang invests the project with some gratifying new smokiness and is rewarded with a postgraduate course in saloon singing for the ages. CD Description

Entering his sixth decade as a recording artist, 'A Wonderful World' sees Bennett working again with country star k.d. Lang, the pair had previously recorded together on Tony's 'MTV Unplugged' (1994). This album is a tribute to jazz legendand American icon, Louis Armstrong and features interpretations of 12 of his classic numbers. 'A Wonderful World' is produced by T-Bone Burnett.

The album may have a very well produced feel to it with all tracks having similar instrumentation, yet it is masterfully done to create a beautiful album that is a joy to listen to.
Bennett & lang may be an unliklely coupling, but their voices do compliment each other very well over some smooth music.
This is a great album to lay back in your lounge to and relax with. It's nothing ground breaking, but the cover versions of Louis Armstrong classics do the tracks great justiceand make you realise how amazong the jazz star was.

Lang's silky voice lubricates Bennett's huskiness to produce this masterpiece. This album stands in a league of its own, it is more than just a collaboration between two artists. The sound production is exceptional and the track selection is heavenly. Add it to your collection if you are a jazz lover - trust me, you won't regret it.

Both of these great artists were born to sing and when you listen to this album you will be convinced they were born to sing together. Tony brings his marvellous voice and a lifetime's experience singing the great American song book. Kd brings an amazing voice and a wonderful freshness. Together they give us an album that is timeless, I have listened to this album over and over again and it never fails to move me.
