4.0 out of 5 stars Another great job..., 16 Jun 2003
By Joćo Sena (Lisbon, Portugal) - See all my reviews
I loved the first Mortal Kombat movie, but I was very very disapointed by the second, which basically, sucked. Bad acting, plot, character development, story development, and bad music.
However, Mortal Kombat Conquest(which aparantly is a prequel to the movies) is with no doupt the best martial arts-based series in the history of television on Earth. Although the acting is not always great, some great actors are featured in the episodes in this DVD, like Daniel Bernhardt(Bloodsport, Matrix Reloaded) and Kristanna Loken(Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines). This DVD contains two episodes: Black Dragon, and Thicker than blood. Black Dragon is about the mafia gang, Black Dragon(duh) who will stop at nothing to retrieve Kung Lao's trading post, who they claim belongs to them. Thicker Than blood marks the return of the ninja spectre, Scorpion, as he is building an army of warriors on Earth Realm for Shao Kahn. Unfourtunetly, one of Scorpion's new warriors is Siro's brother, Cassar...

Overall, great music, fighting sequences, the acting is good too(specially from Jeff Meek, who plays both Rayden AND Shao Kahn)and excellent story and character development. I advise this DVD to anyone who has seen the first couple episodes of Mortal Kombat Conquest and to all who love martial arts. The only reason I dont give it a five stars is because the DVD itself has bad quality(no title to the chapters, etc) and there are no extras, not even a trailer.
