Proper Good!, 1 Dec 2002
This deal is fandabydozy!Xbox console - So much better than its rivals; better graphics, hard disk (save game info and music to it!), an internet game service (Xbox Live!) which is coming to the UK next year, loads of great games!, up to 4 players per machine (if the controllers are to meaty for you, you can buy the 'S' [smaller] ones), and the satisfaction of knowing you have the largest console of the next-generation, literally (start knocking through the extension ;)) Halo - One of the best first person shooters ever made for any platform, including PC. You are a cyborg whos job is to destroy the alien life-forms on a newly discovered planet who threaten the existence of mankind. You can control lots of vehicles and use alien and human weaponary. Amazing levels and stunning AI make this game a must have (the sequel will be released next year [hopefully] so its a good idea to get the first one completed asap!) Splinter Cell - The latest game in the Tom Clancy franchise. You play Sam Fisher, a member of the Black Ops, sent in to investigate the disappearance of 2 CIA agents in Azerbaijan. Stealth is the key to this game, and you have to maximise the use of shadows and darkness, spy-ware and silenced weaponary. At your disposal are various cameras ("sticky" and fibre optics), a silenced pistol and multi-purpose rifle, a whole load of moves (including silent landing and doing the splits against two walls, and climbing up to the shadows of the ceiling). The enemy AI reacts to bodies and shadow movements, so be sure to hide the dead and turn out the lights! Jet Set Radio Future - A skating game set in the future, where the objective is to tag as many things as possible with your logo, like cars, walls, and people! Cell-shading is a realtively new graphical technique, where game objects are induvidually and boldly outlined, to give a cartoon feel. This does take a while to get used to, but it still is a great feature of the game! People who liked a certain skateboarders ;) game will love this Sega GT 2002 - This is a driving simulation game, comparable to GT3 on the PS2. They are both the definitive realistic driving game on their platforms. GT 2002 has incredible sounds, while in a race (provided you have a decent sound system ;)) you can hear the Doppler effect in all its glory (the neeeeeeooooowwwww of cars passing each other and the sound getting progressivly quieter/louder). The cars look stunning, and around 100 real-life cars have been moddled and given the most accurate handling possible. The gameplay involves winning races and money, and repairing your car (happens a lot) or buying new ones. There is an option to race in different eras, e.g. the 80s, and drive the different cars that were made in the period. Overall, an excellent buy. There is a very similiar (alright, its exactly the same one :P) deal at a well known store (where you write down a catalogue number, pay and wait at A/B/C/D for your goods), for £199.99, but you get a £20 voucher (so in affect its £179.99), but seen as its only about £6 cheaper, you'd probably spend about that much on petrol getting there and back! So buy it from here, and you dont even have to get out of your chair... )! All i have to do now is wait till xmas to play it, or find out where my mum has hidden it ;)
