4.0 out of 5 stars Mission-Impossible, 18 May 2003
By cian motran (Brussels Belgium) - See all my reviews
All the N64 magazines give Mission Impossible bad press but it's an excellent game once you get into it.It's not at all like the movie though. You play Ethan Hunt who works for the Impossible Mission Force or IMF.You must go around levels as a real spy.Sure it's not as finly tuned as Goldeneye but you play as a real spy.If you use a loud weapon you have guards milling around you and in many levels you can't use loud wepaons at all.You spend a lot of the game hiding around corners and prayng the guards wont see you and put you in jail. You have to sneak around like a real spy punching people in the back and using the facemaker(the best feature in the game, you use a machine that can morph you into certain characters, for example one minute you are an ambassadors aide and the next the chief of staff of a soviet base)The graphics are detailed if a little blocky and the guns are a very limited(but ingenius) range from the loud 9mm to the amazing portable rocket launcher that can shoot down helicopters. However to make up fot the lack of wepaons there are an amazing amount of gadgets from aerosol paint(to cover up cameras) to an amazing bungee rope so you can drop down a massive shaft to steal data files. As the game progresses you relaize that some has been setting up Ethan and tries to make it look like he's a mole(spy) for a rival organization. The best bit of the game is a level where you switch between two snipers that are protecting Ethan as he tires to find out the 'mole' in Waterloo Station in london. All in all an excellent game

When the nintendo was one of the best the game was really quite good and was an amazing game to play, but now the graphics are stale, game play is a bit hard and there isn't any talking!, just subtitles. But if you are a up for some old school fun then this is a good place to start.
