Solsbury Hill is Erasure's first single since their 2000 single 'Freedom' from their previous album 'Loveboat'. Solsbury Hill is a great song, originally released by Peter Gabriel. Erasure have done this song very much in their own style which doesn't improve the song, but it doesn't make it worse either, far from it. Erasure's version is faster than the Gabriel original and Andy Bell's vocals stand out perfectly as a result.
I have been a big Erasure fan for years but I have to say Solsbury Hill is the first Erasure song for years that has really caught my attention, it's Erasure at their best.
The B sides Tell It To Me and Searching are also very good. These two songs from first listen remind me instantly of Erasure's older B sides from the early 1990's as they are both so uptempo and upbeat. Tell It To Me is probably the better of both of the B sides, but I love them both.
All in all, Solsbury Hill is a great cover song from Erasure and it is certainly well worth dashing out to buy for.

When I heard that Vince & Andy were recording this song one thing rushed to my mind: the forgettable acoustic gigs & tours they did in the late nineties. I just thought they would go through copying the fantastic guitar part of the song and adding some electronic bits here and there. But I was mistaken. Erasure has done a very-different-from-the-original electronic version. They have forgotten the acoustic thing and made a version in their analogue way. As a song, it's catchy though does not improve the original Peter Gabriel version. But it has its charm and gives me a lot of expectations for an Erasure album for the first time in 8 years. The b-sides are correct even though you can watch similarities between 'Tell it to me' and 'Loveboat' tracks, which is a point down but not enough to take me off the idea of buying this single. Recommended.

In my opinion, THE best Erasure single since Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me. A cover of the Peter Gabriel classic, Erasure's version changes the time signature to 4/4 and swops accoustic guitars for synth bopping and blipping. Two extra non-album tracks are also included, making this single a must for Erasure collectors. "Tell it to me" is brilliant.
