Amazon.co.uk Review

With a well-established framework of back-story and an increasing list of adversaries, the third series of Stargate SG-1 was the place where casual viewers began to fall away. Unless you were taking notes it was becoming ever harder to stay on top of the Goa'uld history and their constant scheming. Fortunately by now a solid fanbase had appeared worldwide--with clubs, conventions and Web sites galore--so the ratings didn't slip even while ancient gods kept appearing and reappearing. Daniel Jackson could always be trusted to illuminate any relevant myth or legend (or find them in five minutes on the internet), while Carter's memory download from last year supplied the necessary ties with the rebellious Tok'ra. Away from the story arc the show's all-important stand-alone tales gave some thorny old subjects a new SF spin, including organised religion, the use of children in the passing on of knowledge, and leading an alternative life. O'Neill's sarcastic wit went into overdrive this year and Teal'c could be relied upon for a sneer or fish-out-of-water joke. Further comic relief came from Sam "Flash Gordon" Jones and Dom DeLuise, but perhaps the funniest thing of all was the wig Carter would apparently be wearing in an alternate universe. --Paul Tonks

Synopsis

A box set featuring Season 3 which includes the episode 'Fair Game' in which a plan is unearthed which will mean an attack on Earth by the Goa'uld. The only way to prevent the attack is to give up the Stargate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, A great boxset all round........., 7 Jan 2003
By Jackal (England) - See all my reviews
Fantastic, what more can I say? Season 3 of the Stargate saga, and it just keeps getting better. After the film Stargate, with Kurt Russell, the spin off series, Stargate Sg-1 was intended to start a franchise, and it certainly has done just that, with a great cast, and excellent writing, Stargate Sg-1 has proven to be one of the great sci-fi shows around. This boxset captures the brilliance of this season perfectly, great epipsodes including "Rules of Engagement", "Foothold", "The Devil You Know" and "Nemesis", to name but a few. And this time, unlike the two series boxsets before it, well, with the exception of season 2, which had the limited special features, this one has what you would expect from a great boxset, great special features. These included Special behind the scenes featurettes, scene selections, character profiles, and interactive menus. In all, this is a great season and a boxset to match it, stargate fans will love it, sci-fi fans will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It just continues to get better, 7 Aug 2006

As SG1's adventures continue we see some great stories this season starting with into the fire the conclusion to last seasons cliffhanger as sg1 are held captive by Hathor and it is up to Hammond and Teal'c to save them with the help of Master Bretac and most of the sgc also we meet Daniels grandfather in the pernultimate episode crystal skull and the introduction of the replicators in the cliffhanger nemesis also my favourite episode is urgo in which all of sg1 get implanted with the personality of a scientist on a far away planet.

The episodes this season are:

Into the Fire
Seth
Fair Game
Legacy
Learning Curve
Points of View
Deadman Switch
Demons
Rules of Engagement
Forever In a Day
Past and Present
Jolinar's Memories
The Devil You Know
Foothold
Pretense
Urgo
A Hundred Days
Shades of Grey
New Ground
Maternal Instinct
Crystal Skull
Nemesis

yet again mgm have released a great boxset and this time it has some extras a must have for any fan!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars SG1 Just Keeps Getting Better, 16 Feb 2005
By J. Burling (London, UK) - See all my reviews

After the amazing Season 2, many SG-1 fans were left thinking 'Can it get better than this?' In short, the answer is a very definite yes.
The humour in this season starts to become more prominant than in the previous ones, though it does not distract the viewer from appreciating that SG-1 are a space travelling, evil-guy-destroying team.
In this season, we get our first look at the replicators, and the Asgard return for more interplanetary antics. This season also has some outstanding episodes, where it's clear that everyone involved gave 100%; most noticably the 2-parter in the middle of the season, and the season finale.
Included on the DVDs, for the first time, are extra features, such as interviews with the producers and cast. Whilst limited, they provide, for many people, a first glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action.
This season simply has to be owned.
