Synopsis
Spandau Ballet were the forerunners of the New Romantic movement, a 1980s style that blended the worlds of music and fashion. This programme features Spandau Ballet's original line-up--John Keeble, Steve Norman, and of course Gary and Martin Kemp--in a live performance at Birmingham's NEC. With classic songs like "Gold," "True," and "Only When You Leave," Spandau Ballet prove they have survived the '80s and become timeless favourites.

Spandau Ballet were one of the Big Three British bands (the others being Culture Club and Duran Duran) which invaded the music charts around the world in the early 80s. Spandau Ballet were a "boy band" who did not have to rely on their good looks to take their songs to the charts. They could actually sing (and not just ballads) and play their own instruments. Now, that's what I call a proper pop band!

This concert DVD shows them performing their greatest hits. All their unforgettable songs are here including the classic True and Gold. There are no extras to speak of - which explains why I only gave it four stars. A set of retrospective interviews with the band members and/or a short documentary would have made attractive features but this is still a must-buy for fans of 80s music and those who want to see what Martin Kemp looked like before Eastenders!

This is the first and only Spandau DVD to date. Please can someone out there release a compilation of their music videos?
