Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

Product Description

Product Description
In Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, the pink puffy hero embarks on another adventure to save his neighbours from King Dedede, who has interrupted everyone's peaceful dreams. Kirby must collect the scattered pieces of the Star Rod and restore the Fountain of Dreams. How's he going to do this? By copying the bad guys' best moves and eating--yes, eating--them and their weapons. One copy of the game supports up to four players (via the separately sold Game Link Cable) with special mini games, but if there's a copy of the game in Game Boy Advance, players can play cooperatively through the game.

Manufacturer's Description
When King Dedede steals the Star Rod, it's up to Kirby to recover the fragmented pieces from Triple D's underlings and restore power to the Fountain of Dreams. Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land is an action-packed side-scrolling adventure chock full of awesome copy abilities and fast-moving gameplay. How does Kirby find himself wrapped up in another crusade for the residents of Dream Land? Not surprisingly, the notoriously naughty King Dedede is to blame. King Dedede has stolen the Star Rod, which fuels the Fountain of Dreams. Unable to dream, the poor residents of Dream Land become unsettled and the peaceful land falls into turmoil. Kirby may not look tough, but he hasn't survived a 10-year video game career by being a softie! Kirby, a Warpstar Knight-in-training, is able to float over dangerous obstacles, eat enemy projectiles and copy his enemies' abilities. Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land is great for Kirby fans because of the wide variety of copy abilities Kirby can use throughout the game. Awesome graphics and solid play control add to the game's appeal, while the minigames really pump up the replay value. Once again, Kirby serves up a super-fun adventure that's fun for players of all ages!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kirby is back with an upgrade!, 24 Jul 2003
Some of you may remember this game from about 10 years back. In 1993, this brilliant game was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System, and was known as "Kirby's Adventure".

In the game, you play as the hero, Kirby. Kirby is a small round pink "blob", with red feet. The controls are simple too - A is Jump (if you repeatedly press A or the up arrow, you will float in the air), and B is to inhale.

When you inhale an enemy, you can either spit it out (B again), or press DOWN, and you will copy that enemy's ability, for example, UFO, Ice, Fire, etc. There are 24 abilities in all.

This is a fun game with beautiful graphics. Young children will enjoy playing the game for the first time, and older gamers may remember it from when they were young. However, it's all over too quickly.

I didn't rate this 5 stars because of a few reasons:

- Too short
- Changed mini games (the old ones were better, but the "Kirby's Air Grind" game is fun)
- The changed beginning. The introduction sequence used to have a cute session on how to draw Kirby (which has been replaced with a load of Kirbies making their way across the screen).

All in all though, a beautiful game, with quite good replay value makes this a good game for young children, or old children wanting to rekindle their youth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool! a good buy indeed, 19 Jun 2003
By A Customer
A very cool game were you get to control Kirby himself on your GBA. He can swallow up enemies and copy their abilities, if they have one because not all do. He can become a night or a fire man, or a guy who shoots with a laser too with many other abilities awaiting. There are 7 massive worlds, were in each you get to fight a different boss and there are an average of 2 special games per level. IN Kirby's quest he has to retrieve the Star Rod by defeating King Dodo and place it back in the fountain of dreams.
A very good game...it really gets 4 and a half stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars Possibly One Of The Best Kirby Games To Be Developed For Portable Gaming!, 17 Jan 2007

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Surprisingly enough, this was actually the first Game Boy Advance game I completed in my career and I thought that I was actually going to save this game until last! But one can say, to review them, you've got to complete them all!

Kirby: Nightmare In Dreamland is a game, which is based upon Kirby Adventure, originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System Console (NES) around 1993! This remake version tells the story about one of Kirby's wildest adventures!

Long story short, the members of Pop Star were resting peacefully until King Dedede decided to use The Fountain Of Dreams as a bathing place! Not knowing what he was actually doing, but while King Dedede was enjoying a swim around the Fountain Of Dreams he was actually infiltrating, and lost the Star Rod which made everybody around Pop Star sleepless! It's up to Kirby to travel through 7 Long Levels and sort out this problem with King Dedede before our hero get's too tired to succeed!!

Kirby games are normally based around children as Kirby has a very quiet and cute nature, although there are a few teenagers/adults, which make an attempt at Kirby games! And if you're not a fan at adventure, you can always play the Mini-Games supplied or play 2-Player with another person!

My Personal Gaming Score: 8/10: Enjoyable, Fair-Play, Thumbs Up

My Wish: Even though they did a remake, what Nintendo could have done was released a NES Classic Version of Kirby's Adventure for the Game Boy Advance, or once you fully complete Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, have Kirby's Adventure as a unlocked secret!

Final Comments: In the end, I would most probably say that this is one of the best Kirby games I've play on a portable console! Another Kirby game I recommend is actually Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards!
