Joytech Xbox Digital AV Cable

After using the Joytech AV Pack, I can tell you that it provides everything you need from an Advanced AV pack!

It has SCART, S-Video, RCA, Fibre Optic output. The connectors are also gold plated for better quality!
I have my XBox linked up to my TV via S-Video, and my sound is linked up to my Dolby Digital Amp via the supplied Fibre Optic cable.

The picture on Amazon can be confusing.
The Fibre Optic cable simply plugs into a small port on the back of the Joytech cable that goes into your XBox. If you look at the picture, you will see a cable that has another cable attached to it, that is the fibre optic cable! Simple!

If you have a home theatre and an XBox, you need this peripheral! The sound adds a whole new dimension to the gaming experience.

Sounds much better too, with dolby surround 5.1/DTS via the supplied fibre optic cable, (not supplied with the official advanced lead). Just don't forget to enable dolby digital on the xbox set up screen when using this.

Ordered this lead on the Sunday, was delivered on the Monday morning. This is an exellent lead which I would recommend buying.

I'm so very glad I was wrong. First impressions were very good - an understated yet very well designed box held the cable with all the connectors on display. The Optical cable is separate allowing you to use it with a DVD player and PS2 if you wish, and all the optical ports and connectors were capped even though it was securely packaged. On removing the cable, you can feel that it is a quality item. It's about half as thick again as the default cable, and the coating is very flexile making routing much easier. The gold plated connectors clipped into place firmly but with no resistance or that 'scraping' you sometimes get with cheaper cables.

Switching on the XBOX, I noticed the difference in picture quality immediately - The Live welcome screen looked so much more vibrant and crisp, not just a little but massively. I loaded up Burnout 3 and was similarly amazed - the texture crawl was all but eliminated, any jaggies eradicated and the colours so much better defined it's almost like a new console. If I had to quantify the improvement I'd offer a figure of 30 - 50% better compared to the standard Microsoft composite cable. It may sound like hyperbole but it really is that good.

To conclude, the image quality increase provided by this cable, as well as the digital audio functionality of the optical out make this fantastic value. Even if you don't need it for the audio aspect, the huge graphical enhancements make this well worth the money. I can recommend it without reservation (to those with RGB scart televisions).
