Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In Minority Report you play as John Anderton, an officer in the elite Pre-crime unit responsible for apprehending would-be murderers before they can commit the deed. Given these parameters, it's not surprising that not a lot of characters die in this game--but there's still plenty of violence. Anderton himself is quite adept at pummelling other officers, guards, robots or anyone else who gets in his way. With a decent selection of kicks, punches and combinations (you can purchase additional combos when you collect enough dollar signs), Anderton can beat his way through at least the beginning levels.

Unfortunately, you are unlikely to find much to enjoy in Minority Report, even if you liked the film. The elements that made the movie worthwhile--a compelling narrative wrapped up with a high-tech, futuristic bow--are glossed over or absent from the game. What's more, the gameplay is as redundant and simplistic as the graphics are uneven. Worse yet, the game does not allow you to save mid-level (some levels are long), and the instruction manual contains no information about how to play the game, forcing you to play through the training course.

Minority Report does successfully represent some parts of the movie, such as the concussion gun, the jet pack and the spider bots. The first time you fire the concussion gun, for example, you'll be impressed with the way the space around Anderton ripples with the force of the weapon. Otherwise, the game levels are unimpressive and character animation is poor. Minority Report is not great at recreating the movie, and is even less successful when it breaks with it. --Bill Hummel

Manufacturer's Description

Based on Steven Spielberg's blockbuster thriller, Minority Report is the only game that lets the player relive the movie experience by combining hand-to-hand combat with futuristic weapons and devices straight out of the movie. Players assume the role of the movie's hero, Precrime Officer John Anderton, in an all-new adventure as he attempts to prove his innocence while uncovering an insidious conspiracy. Players use a combination of hand-to-hand combat and firepower as they journey through more than 40 levels of futuristic cinematic action and adventure. Innovative gameplay features and non-stop action create outstanding suspense and dynamic replayability.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spiderman - 90% of all the fun, 29 Dec 2002
By Mr. Aj Mckenzie - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The Activision games based on movies so far have been relativily good. spiderman for me was a big hit with its interactivity with the movie and the inclusion of various back stories to complement the original story line of the movie in which u just see spiderman defeating some bad guys. Instead, you get to take them out! but this isnt a review of Spiderman. Unfortunatly, its a review of the abismal Minority report game. My educated guess is that this is a complete rip-off of Spiderman in every way. The same engine has been used to generate the gameplay giving an intense feeling of de-ja-vous. Because they have used the same PGG (platform game generator), the graphics have not been improved. This creates a terribly created environment filled with unrealisic effets and a bad dialog. the game follows the story but with unfortunate nitty-gritty parts that slow the game down. The main character (John Anderton) is replaced by some blond haired guy who neither looks nor sounds like tom cruise in teh slightest. I was perhaps looking forward to some crime solving, but there was none. You dont even get to use the swishy thing for looking at murders! Overall, a really terible game. It spiderman with guns and a terrible, boring story. (the film is great, this is not the film!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful....simply awful., 9 Sep 2004

I loved Spider-man....and this is no spider-man. Kept losing my saves from the crappy memory card so id always start from scratch. just found cheats for it on gamefaqs.com for invincibility and infinite ammo so i thought id go back to it.

It took just over 4 hours on easy mode with these cheats on and there is no way id have completed it without them. Its so hard. Its not as gripping as Max Payne 2 and has possibly the weakest ending of any game ive played. Trying not to spoil it here, but it finishes with a whimper more than a big revelation. If youve seen the film, you know how it ends...but the game understandably cant end the same way....but Pre-crime dont learn anything from the whole Minority Report thing which ruined what limited pleasure i had taken from playing it.

The story mode is nothing like the film after level 20 or so....so dont expect big things. There are 40, YES 40 levels of monotiny. Glad i got it 2nd hand on the cheap coz it be devastated if i payed top dollar for it. The graphics are pretty good, but it doesnt have that x-factor that makes it a pick up and play classic.

If you want it, get it on the cheap...at least you wont feel too cheated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Minority Roport - Gripping, 24 May 2003
By A Customer
Whatever people say about Minority Report as a rip off game i feel is irrelevant. This game has an excellent plot, with great action. If you have seen the movie i feel that it will apeal to you more than if you haven't, but even if you haven't i believe it will still apeal.
Highly enjoyable and very addictive. The reason for giving it 4 stars it that there are no extra features outside the main game, except the learn to fight and fly options.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, a Spider-Man rip-off, but a well done one.
Everyone rating MR seems to be stuck on the fact that Treyarch just made another Spider-Man game with guns, but even so, it is a very well done Spider-Man game with guns. Read more
