Product Description

Product Description

Cuba, 2009: Castro is dead, and the first free Cuban elections in decades are thrown into turmoil by a drug-funded warlord. The Ghosts, an elite team of US Army Green Berets, are sent to Cuba as part of a UN peacekeeping force to destroy the rebel forces and their mercenary leaders and secure the elections for a free Cuba.

Note: this is an expansion to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and requires Ghost Recon to play.

5.0 out of 5 stars well produced add on pack, 4 Dec 2002
If you are a fan of the ghost recon series of games then this is a must. The missions are as good if not better than before- you must take the ghosts (elite sas style soldiers) to cuba. This time it is a bit harder than before and even experienced gamers will probably need a few takes at each level. I think the AI is better because the enemy seem to move around more than before. There are more of them and suddenly you can be confronted with lots of soldiers coming at you in contrast to the earlier titles. It remains my favourite multiplayer game since it is well suited to internet or LAN play.
Good graphics and what is more the game runs well enough on lower spec machines. Eight large levels which you will find yourself replaying so I think it represents good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars More of the (excellent) same!, 23 Nov 2002
By A Customer
Anybody who enjoyed the original Ghost Recon and the follow up Desert Seiege will love this too. There are no real surprises but why make big changes to such a great formula?

The action moves to Cuba. Instead of the wide open spaces of Desert Siege, there is a return to the tree cover of the original.

Those Cubans are tough and super accurate. I found myself wondering how I was going to survive more than thirty seconds during the first mission!

There are a few more weapons, including a very satisfying repeating grenade thrower. There are a few more scenarios for the single mission too.

Ghost Recon and it's follow ups are the only games where I have been through the campaign several times. It's always different..

...and it looks great. Even on my P550 with 32 Mb graphics card, it runs pretty smoothly most of the time.

When's the next one coming out???

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid but uninspiring, 10 May 2003
One of the biggest problems with the original Ghost Recon was that it only contained 15 solo missions. The original missions were fantastic, but there simlpy weren't enough of them. This, after Desert Siege is the second Mission Pack for Ghost Recon. Again, like desert siege, it has eight new solo missions as well as 5 new Multiplayer arenas and about a dozen new weapons, as well as a new 'Defend' playing mode. The best thing about this expansion is that it updates your Ghost Recon to the latest version allowing you use the online-multiplayer feature which nowadays demands V.1.4.0.0 (Any lower versions makes it almost impossible to find people with compatible versions to play against). The update also makes your game compatible with a multitude of home-made missions, campaigns, and weapon packs that are freely available on fan web-sites. The Island Thunder Missions themselves are ok but there's not enough variation between the maps, most of which are set in forests which to me pretty much all look the same. And the missions are far too easy, even when played on the hardest difficulty this wont take die-hard 'Recon fans more than a day or two to complete. It is however still a solid and useful add-on to what is without doubt one of the best first-person combat simulators of the past few years.
