Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Experience one of the most beautiful German railway routes in Microsoft Train Simulator!

The route contains the "Hoellentalbahn" from Freiburg to Titisee and the continuing "Drei-Seen-Bahn" to Seebrugg on the Lake Schluch. This 50 km long route is one of the most beautiful routes in Germany, which has the highest elevated station in the country (Feldberg-Bärental) and with a gradient of up to 5,5%, gives the train driver a real challenge.

All 14 stations have been re-modelled in high detail. The original landscape with its numerous bridges, tunnels, typical buildings and villages, allow a realistic journey through the Black Forest on your PC.

Three original locomotives with matching trains and cabs for this route, as well as interesting, especially created activities make the Black Forest Route an extensive add-on for Microsoft Train Simulator.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely short route from Germany, 23 Jun 2003

First things first, yes this is a very short route, 49km in fact. So is it worth it? Well, if you have a fairly hi-spec PC I think it is. A lot of work has gone into designing the scenery in this add-on, so therefore the requirements are that bit higher, (256MB RAM minimum).

Opinion seems to be mixed on this add-on, but I rather like it. There are about 10 activities, enough to keep you going for the time being until Aerosoft release one of their add-on activity packs for their add-ons.

The rolling stock is not unique, you may have some if you bought 'Pro Train 2', but you can't blame the fact that the same rolling stock is used all around Germany on the developers, they are only being realistic. There are one or two new locomotives, particularly the steam engine included.

The route is mainly a single track, though there are double lines at some stations. The route goes from Freiburg to Titisee and on to Seebrugg. The part from Titisee to Seebrugg features a novel new signal technique which the developers did their best to replicate here.

Overall a good add-on, just take note of what I said regarding requirements to run the game, and route length before you buy. If you prefer longer routes, then maybe this is not for you.
