Synopsis

What looks like a typical crimez-n-the-hood tale is actually a modern British mobster melodrama (original title: EVERYBODY LOVES SUNSHINE). Note Bowie prominent in the ensemble as an old-school fruit gangster, but the real star is the more contemporary UK music club sensation Goldie. Using his mouthful of gold-capped teeth to grotesque advantage, he plays Terry, a creepy druglord released from prison along with his handsome cellmate and cousin Leon (writer-director Goth). Leon
intends to go straight and become a legit hip-hop musician, but volatile Terry, homoerotically fixated on Leon, starts a gang war with Asian competitors and commits gruesome murders just to draw Leon back into thug life. Goldie gives a fine performance as a fascinatingly repellent character, and Goth directs to a music-video beat. For another tale of London gangsters with rock musicians in the cast, check out THE KRAYS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everybody loves sunshine, 26 Aug 2003

An excellent modern potrayal of the British gangland. Hardcore street attitudes combined with hard house music, make this film a must see. The main character played by Goldie, gives this film it magic touch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazin soundtrack, 6 Aug 2002

I can't really remember seeing the film that much, it was a while ago. It seemed to be pretty fast moving, not too deep; the kind of film that would be good to watch if you don't want to have to think too much. The real reason I reckon that you should watch this film is the soundtrack! It's amazing, and reflects the bleak surroundings of the central characters perfectly. See the film, listen to the soundtrack you could do a lot worse!

Some people will like this film but I found it very disappointing.I kept thinking that Ray would find out what happened to his girlfriend but no. Although I own it I don't think I will be watching it again!
