5.0 out of 5 stars Logitech MX 500 Optical, 3 Oct 2003
By Benjamin Harrison (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The Logitech MX500 has received a few bad reviews based mainly on gaming performance, and while it may not be the ultimate tool for hardcore gamers, I found this mouse to be almost faultness after several months of constant use in 3D animation applications (the mouse is very accurate), games, and general internet use. Superbly responsive, very comfortable even after many hours of use, and it looks good on your desk too.

The mouse comes supplied with useful software that makes installation and configuration quick and easy; virtually every aspect of the mouse can be customised to suit the user.

The one real failing of this mouse is long-term durability, as after several months the right mouse button's click has become 'soft,' developing a slightly awkward feel. Despite this, the MX 500 was put through very heavy use, and remained functional despite this niggle. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars MX 500 - by far the best gaming mouse, 11 Mar 2004
I moved to this mouse after using a cordless logitech mouseman which i had been using for about 2 years. The reason was that i was getting a slight cursor lag in games and noticed that sometimes even if i had my cross hairs over someone the accuracy wasn't 100%. Well just been on Medal of Honor with this and I have to say its awesome. Pinpoint accuracy and totally smooth action on movement. This is the mouse i have been waiting for. As for the problems in past with drivers to get the buttons working in games. Well downloaded mouseware 9.79 and all buttons i have setup work. You just assign a button to keypress and press the key you want. At last logitech have remembered us gamers.
I couldn't recommend this mouse enough. If you are a gamer get this and not the cordless mx700. You won't regret it

5.0 out of 5 stars The Worlds Greatest Mouse Ever, 30 Sep 2002
I'm going to keep this review short, because there's not that much to say.
If you thought that the Logitech MouseMan Dual Optical was the most precise a mouse could be ... think again. With even higher DPI and a better resolution, the MX500 beats the DualOptical with just 1 sensor.
Comfort wise, the MX500 beats even the Razer's and the MSIs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great with an exception
Great mouse for gaming and general use. Sensitive and good ergonomics. However the feet that the mouse glides on wear out if you use a hard pad like the Ratpadz.
