Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Minuteman are an indie four-piece built around the voice and songs of Maidstone-born frontman Matt Jones; Resigned to Life is their debut album, and it's a heck of a fine start. Minuteman have a rare knack for giant, surging melody and an intriguing way with an arrangement--traits they share with their closest spiritual contemporaries, Mull Historical Society (Minuteman's early single "Big Boy", and MHS's "Watching Xanadu" could have been separated at birth).

Minuteman's specialty is managing to build songs that, while being accessibly and agreeably tuneful, do not always proceed as might be expected. "Quality Time" lurches suddenly and effectively into a choked, claustrophobic cacophony of distortion. "I Love" begins as a gentle ballad, backed by a twitching drum machine that suggests a clock ticking down to something; cleverly, however, the song never quite explodes as threatened. Resigned to Life is an extremely promising debut. --Andrew Mueller

5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut album from a great live band!, 19 Nov 2002
Having just seen minuteman live supporting gemma hayes and suede, i have to say minuteman impressed very much on the night especially my two faves 5000 minutes of fame and Big Boy. i first heard of minuteman on the Q awards and they seem to have gone strength to strength over the past few months. This album is a fantastic peice of muscisian-ship. What else can you expect from an ex ultrasound keyboardist and nudist model? Matt the frontmans voice is fantastic in this album, he accentuates the tunes perfectly. The songs are very much the right length contrary to other people. They are small enough to keep you interested and long enough to appreciate the wizardry.
High points of the album are definatly "big boy" and "5000 minutes of pain"

First things first! Resigned to life isn't for everyone. However, if you like your music tuneful, moving and long then this is a must!
