Synopsis

Welcome to the eighties version of a Gerry Anderson puppet show. Terrahawks is the show for anyone with a sense of nostalgia and who is a regualar watcher of Gerry Anderson's other classic series. The theme tune is something you just can't help but tap your foot to and the old style computer graphics clearly illustrate the eighties era that it comes from. You can easily tell that the puppets in Terrahawks are more 'improved' from that of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, most notibly are the mouths and eyes. My personal favorite are the spherical Zeroids with the amusing personallity quirks and a unique method of bouncing and rolling around as a way of getting from one place to another.

Although I like Terrahawks and enjoyed watching Dr. "Tiger" Ninestein and crew battle the evil and menacing Android Zelda, the DVD does have a few flaws. I'm afraid to say that the special features, though generous in themselves, lack the interesting 'behind-the-scenes' type documentaries I was expecting and I don't think it was really nessessary to include the scripts of every episode on each DVD either as I didn't really have the patience to read through them after watching the episode.

Terrahawks itself does go overboard in some cases for instance, Zelda's evil laugh can get quite tiresome as well as Yung-Star's gurgling voice. Apart from that and the really frustrating fact that they didn't include at least one episode in the box set, it is something to watch at least once and to have a good giggle at the cheesy lines.
