3.0 out of 5 stars Useful for beginners - needs updating, 20 Nov 2002
By A Customer
I ordered this video as I was finding my regular yoga class too much (at 26 weeks pregnant) and wanted some specific yoga exercises that are safe during pregnancy. There are a number of exercises that provide the viewer with gentle stretches relevant to pregnancy but generally it seems to be aimed at beginners rather than anyone who is following any kind of exercise programme already.

Additionally the video cover is totally misreprensentative of the content of the video. It seems to have been filmed in the 80s and could certainly benefit from being updated with modern visuals.

1.0 out of 5 stars patronising, 7 Nov 2002
By A Customer
Very dated, overly basic with poor back ground music. Only for complete beginners. Don't be fooled by the good looking lady on the front, the video is decidedly frumpy. Other yoga for pregnancy videos seem similarly poor. My advice: find a class. You'll have fun, be healthy & make friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Antenatal Yoga & Relaxation Review, 8 Oct 2002
By Catherine Haddow (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
For someone who is not used to doing much or indeed any exercise, such as myself, this video was perfect.

It is divided into four sections, the first being Yoga exercises which lasts roughly 25 minutes. They are all fairly gentle and are demonstrated by pregnant ladies. I immediately felt some relief to an aching lower back! It was easy to do the exercises whilst still keeping an eye on the video and no additional equipment is needed (except perhaps a coffee table or similar to use as support).

The commentary throughout is helpful, without sounding too basic or patronising. Although a few exercises are done in pairs, they are possible to adapt and do on your own (explained in the video). Helpful comments about what you may be feeling (e.g. dizziness during breathing) and how to overcome problems come just at the right time.

The video does start slowly but speeds up a little as you get into the exercises. However it would probably be a little frustrating for someone used to a strenuous exercise routine. Despite this, the other sections outlined below would still be beneficial.

The remaining sections cover relaxation, labour / birth positions and breathing techniques. All of which are fairly short (about 5-10 minutes) and informative for a first time mother.
