As you can probably guess I am a big bike fan and have ridden high performance bikes for 12 years. From that point of veiw I can tell you that Riding Spirits is very close to the real thing. The game is incredibly difficult at first and the realism may put most general gamers off, But RS should be treat as a simulation and as such will take a bit longer to master. Some people will not like getting thrown off the bike just for hitting a patch of dirt on the side of the track while leant over but that is what happens in real life ( I have the wrecked leathers to prove it ). The range of bikes available is extensive and the detail such as smokey 2 strokes and rumbling big twins adds to the realism and gameplay,Also any new parts or tuning added to the bikes will be very noticable during the race. Any real life bikers will probably notice that taking real racing lines offers great rewards but pulling them off is very difficult. All in all the feeling of grinding your kneesliders while winding on the power is almost as much fun as the real thing. The only bad points are the lack of a 3rd person view in two player mode and the lack of tracks available, Yes its the old 7 tracks and 7 in reverse make 14 on the back of the box trick and the game could be improved by adding realistic weather effects. Bike fans will love it because their favourite or dream bike will probably be in there and none bikers will love it as long as they dont expect it to be as easy as GT3.

I half expected this game to be poor after what i'd read about it, but I decided to give it a try anyhow, and boy was it poor.

The graphics aren't bad at all actually, contrary to what i'd read, they actually have very realistic looking tracks with nice trees, and impressive sunlight effects on the tarmac, but the bikes and riders themselves seem to let the realism down.

I couldn't get over how bad the bikes sound, my old honda 50CC moped sounded like a raging beast compared to even the beefiest bikes in this game, the quality is truly abysmal, but worst of all is the bikes handling, even with all the upgrades fitted, the physics are totally unrealistic, this game would have been adequate 4 years ago in its physics but not anymore, after having played the truly excellent Superbikes 2000 & 2001 on the pc, and Moto GP games on PS2 and Xbox, how could I possibly play a game like this? I quickly sold my copy and am eagerly awaiting a 'proper' motorbike game; the forthcoming Moto GP 2 Ultimate Racing Technology, on the Xbox.

Avoid this game, it reeks of cheap budget programming, it really is as bad as some of the reviews stated.

You have to take your time with this game, but it's well worth it.It's no GT3 but nothing else is either.
At first the brakes seemed very weak, but upgrading the bike works. There are definite differences between the machines in handeling.
It has bikes that I've owned - RD350, GSXR1100 and Katana1100,reasonable representations - better than I expected from the negative reviews.
I've almost completed it (I think-Class S) and found that the difficulty level is too low. Riding a GSXR750 with upgrades to approx 150hp, I'm walking past the opposition. Surely it should be tougher here.
Looking forward to the sequel.
