5.0 out of 5 stars Never mind Nokia... Siemens have taken the upper hand!, 12 Oct 2002
By Mr G A Thornhill (Newark, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I bought this phone off Amazon.co.uk, and aside from the fantastic price for a Java-Enabled phone (one of the newest models) I was very tempted by the size and looks.

Exactly the same in size, though a little smaller than the Siemens C45, the MT50 comes in a sparkly silver, black and grey Clip-It case. Very light and easy to hold, this phone is certainly a smooth operator. With a *BRILLIANT* blue LED screen (Eat your heart out Nokia), nice soft keys and a lightweight yet 'sturdy' case, I was impressed. The WAP is instantaneous - latest news, sports scores and games - in a second! Text messages can be up to 760 characters long (Compared to Nokia's 160 standard size) and the graphics and games blew me away (although I was a little disappointed at the inclusion of only ONE game - more can be downloaded). As well as notes, address book, calendar, alarm reminders and plenty of quality ring tones, what more could anyone ask for!?

This certainly made a mark on me, and I instantly put my Nokia 8210 and Siemens C45 at the back of the shelf. Congratulations Siemens, you've created a winner!!

5.0 out of 5 stars a solid, feature rich phone at a very decent price, 13 Nov 2002
By A Customer
The best thing about this phone is its blue backlight. It's very bright and noticable in the dark. The menu system is more complicated than those found on the Nokia phones, but once you get used to it, it is actually faster. It only comes with one game, but more can be downloaded, aswell as stuff like screen-savers. But the two most important things for me is firstly the excellent build quality, and secondly this is actually a very nice looking phone. I would recommend this phone if it had cost £120, but at this price there is no competition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Siemens MT50, 27 Aug 2002
I have had many Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson mobiles over the past few years, but this one tops them all. The GPRS over WAP(5 times faster) allows very fast downloads of the latest java games. EMS not only allows you to send pictures and melodies but permits upto 760 characters. You can recieve and send ringtones by SMS so these can be sent to friends. Logos, Fascias and screensavers also allow personalisation of the phone. The small keys may cause a few minor problems when composing SMS messages, but the T9 Intelligent Text Input makes up for the lost time. Because of the long battery life one is only required to charge the phone about once a week. The phone even works as an organiser so there is no excuse for missing any birthdays or dentist appointments. There is also a notes section to record all that important information. All in all I can't believe that siemens managed to fit all of these superb features into such a small casing at a very affordable price. I predict that the price will rise steeply in the very near future, so buy it quick!
