I avoided this like the plague when it was first released, due to the terrible reviews it got. However when i saw it on special offer for £2.97 (yes, really!) I couldn't resist. surprisingly, it's not too bad. Graphics are reasonable, apart from the strange use of 2-D sprites for the weapons (chairs/fire extinguishers). Sound - each fighter has his own entrance song, and these are all good; but you only get to hear 10-15 seconds of this, as the fighter enters the ring; while the actal fight is going on, there are only two possible songs, and both of these sound like SNES-style midi.
Gameplay - it's actually a lot of fun to play, I don't know why but it is. One bad point is that the ladder and table matches are almost impossible to win.
Lifespan - I didn't expect this game to last vrey long, but I am still playing it, 3 months after i bought t.
Overall, a decent enough game - buy it if you can get it cheaply on special offer or second hand, I wouldn't pay over £15 for it.

Er... great game! The graphics have improved from most of the older wrestling games, but the cheering crowd still look like cardboard cut-outs. The moves are OK but I mean what are THQ playing at - each wrestler only has 5 grapple moves! Well that's a big thing that was muffed up. The really great thing about the game is the matches you can play. Pin, Hardcore, Cage, Hell in a Cell, Ladder, TLC and Ironman matches! Lovely! Also there's a decent number of wrestlers to choose from, around 45.
And also in the championships that you play you can't do multiplayer when going for titles. Oh well, let's hope that WWE Wrestlemania X9 will perfect these flaws so that there's be a much better one coming out soon!

After buying my gamecube only a week ago i was eager to make this WWE title one of my key reasons for buying the machine.Although I am a BIG THQ fan i have to say that the X8 couldve been so much better.

Firstly the good points...easy to control,good array of WWE talent,great graphics and no repetitive commentary ala Smackdown JBI(PS2).

Now the bad points...
Create A Wrestler-Oh dear what happened this is the poorest version i have seen in all my years of playing wrestling games.No masks(ala Rey Mysterio) or facepaint(ala Sting)and not a great deal of finishers...No F5(ala Brock Lesnar)
Gameplay Area-Could have given us some backstage access as the ring area and ramp aint enough.
Matches-Some of the worst match combos I have ever seen...NO LUMBERJACK n NO FALLS ANYWHERE MATCH.
And of course the severe lack of atmosphere ala WM2000 n Smackdown.

Dont get me wrong the game is quite enjoyable but THQ have hardly endeared them to GC users with this effort.In the words of my old school master....Poor Effort Must Try Harder
