4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF , BUT SOMETHING'S MISSING, 16 Sep 2003
The "man" is (as allways) in good playing form . The band is allright , but I get the feeling that they're just a bit "hey, look,we are pros and you have to admit we're the best".An attitude recognisable mainly from the horns.Mr Poogie Bell is giving what he's got on the drums, but you get the feeling that "it's not his day".Don't get me wrong.I love Mr Miller's music , and the players are of those to admire.But....something's missing.I'll go back to the Ozel Tapes and The Sun Don't Lie (with your permission).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing missing for this fan!, 23 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This is a recording from the German TV show Ohne filter - Musik Pur. I assume to promote Marcus's 1993 album "The Sun Don't Lie". Highly recommend this DVD to any Marcus Miller fan just to see those famous funky fingers at work.
A fine concert all round for me, particularly liked the rapport between Patches Stewart and Kenny Garrett. Stewart does some fine muted trumpet work a la Miles. Standout tracks: Steveland - Stewart's flute-like Akai EWI playing is a dream and Garrett's wonderfully measured solo, soft and mellow thru to screaming funky finish is a true delight.
Tutu is a real down n' dirty slo-funk track, another outstanding muted trumpet solo followed by Garret on soprano sax with his tasteful sweet melodic lines ending with a lovely rasping edge.
I have had this DVD for quite a time now and have lost track of how many times I've watched it - just gets better.
