5.0 out of 5 stars Why all the bad press????, 14 Jan 2003

Well, I sat and watched the video to "Shoot the Dog " and "Freeek" and I have to say, I cannot see what all the fuss was about!

Lets start with "Shoot the Dog" - its a video produced by the guys who brought us 2DTV, so it's a cartoon which I found extremely funny and made me think at the same time! Maybe the UK is blindly following the US as they better as a friend than an enemy. The video was great, the song is very original, funky and thought provoking. I have to say "Hats off" to George for at least trying to raise awareness. It's just people won't let you question a governments decision in a song!

Next we have "Freeek" which was described as sexualy explicit, disgusting song and was degrading to women! Well I have to make the following points!
1. It is not sexually explicit in the fact that you do not see people actually having sex. You only see very brief clips of peoples faces and people moving! Thats it! There is more sex in a Britney Spears video!
2.How is it disgusting? It is just a music video based on one man's opinion on how society is changing and we can't do anything about it! The video was brilliantly created, masterfully directed and fantastically performed by George!
3. The only thing that is even slightly degrading is the scene where George has about 5 girls on leads. However, you could look at it this way, he is also tied to them too! Who is the master and who is the slave??? I think it is all open to interpritation!
The song is gravely, gets the hips moving and is best played very loud! Its amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars Shoot the Dog/ Freeek, 12 Nov 2003
By Leila Fredenburg (SF Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews
I have listened to two titles from the Album Freeek Pt. 1, and I can only hope to get ahold pof this album before the forthcoming Pt.2 comes out. I have been a loyal and have a good prespective of GM's History as an artist. Though, I have not had a chance to view ither video, I vivacously await the delivery of the DVD. I am also a huge Madonna fan and believe American Life is by far a better view of who she is as a person in society let alone high society. No doubt she takes her stand from Mr. GM himself. If only more artists would lead the way to responsible heartfelt and angst of the falsehoods of popular society and snuff it in their fake faces. It is not anti-American or British to have these thoughts or feelings but of wisdom and none other than freedom of speech. Oh I'm sorry, you have to kiss ass to have that kind of freedom---Rock on George you're the last bastion of true freedom in this world of falsehoods...:>)
