This is the best Cd you can get if you have seen the show. Not only is the music exactly as in the show, but certain songs such as Shakalaka baby sound even better.

We have seen the show twice now travelling down from Birmingham & the music on this CD is so good it still gets played at least once a week.

Finally even if you have not seen the show consider buying this CD & then once you have decided if you like it then think about going down to London to see the show live. I promise youthat if you like the music you will love the show.

I just saw the Bombay Dreams musical at The Appolo Victoria Theatre in London and was enthralled by its musical score. I was familiar already with the music of A. R. Rahman, through the Rahmania album by The Bollywood Brass Band, but this score goes beyond my highest expectations. Definitely the best thing of the show, along with the choreography.
A. R. Rahman’s music for Bombay Dreams has the colour of hindi folk and traditional music, the joy og Bollywwod musical scores, the ‘catchiness’ of pop music and the ‘breath’ and substance of classical music. And even if the lyrics don’t stand at the same level (well, at least the english lyrics), the vocals and the arrangements are as good as the music.
Rahman is a musical genius in any part of the world, and a prolific one too, writing scores at the speed of the Bombay film industry.
Buy this record, you won’t regret it!

Buy this for the music, those fabulous Bollywood strings and the impressive vocal prowess on display - and for the fact that it recreates the atmosphere of this spectacular show. Don't buy it for the crass lyrics, the trite plot or the clunky script. Highlights are the ballads and the great ensemble pieces like Shakalaka Baby - mimed on stage but hey ho. There's a lot to this recording - but just like the show itself, it's strangely unfulfilling.
