Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest is an add-on to Empire Earth, EE is a marriage of two great strategy series, Age of Empire and Civilization. It contains the massive detail and real-time strategy of AOE and also the sweeping epic timelines of Civilization.

The premise is simple: mould a simple race of Stone Age brutes though the ages to become the most powerful race off all. There are no changes to the modes of play, single games, campaigns and multi-player elements still remain. Additions come in the form of two new races (Korea and Japan), three new camp gains, Pacific WWII, a space conflict based epoch and the glaring omission from the original game, a Roman campaign. This pack also promises enhanced graphics and sound.

The new campaigns are entertaining but limited, with the Roman wars being the most valued and the space conflict coming across as a naval campaign. The two new nations are useful in multi-player situations, but only further down the ages with some of the newer unit types such as the Cyber Ninja.

If you're an Empire Earth nut then this is for you, otherwise the excellent original has enough features and editing tools to keep you going for a while yet. --Laurent S Hall

Product Description
Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest includes three new single-player campaigns set in ancient Rome, the Pacific Theatre of World War II, and Asia in the 22nd century. In addition, each of the 21 pre-designed civilisations in the game gains a unique special power, building or unit. Examples include: the Kingdom of Italy's Metallurgy power, which allows them to pay building costs with gold or iron interchangeably; Great Britain's S.A.S. unit will be able to plant demolitions and swim across water; and the United States' market building will allow that civilisation to trade abundant resources for scarce ones.

In Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest, gamers can become the greatest conqueror of all time by creating, building, and leading a civilisation to transcend the ages--from the discovery of fire, to flight, to the next frontier: space.

Empire Earth and Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest cover over 500,000 years of human history, from the discovery of fire to the laser battles of the future. Each player takes control of a fledgling civilisation and strives to forge the greatest of all empires.

The new Roman campaign puts players into the shoes of a newly elected consul, Gaius Marius and later his young nephew, Julius Caesar, in a story filled with intrigue, daring escapes and epic battles. The second new campaign thrusts gamers into World War II as a commander of US forces just following the attack at Pearl Harbor. The third campaign is set in 24th century Asia and follows the rise of a new hero through mankind's expansion into space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Empire Earth Add-on, 15 Oct 2002
It has now been approximately one year since the release of Empire Earth and it has received an expansion entitled Empire Earth: The Art Of Conquest. The new things included are: a new epoch, three new single player campaigns, two more unique heroes, two new civilizations, unique capabilities for each civilization, more buildings, new wonders, and more units to take control of.

The new Epoch introduced is the Space Age, and takes place in 2200AD.In this age, China has taken control of most of Asia, and a new country called UFAR (United Federation of Asian Republics) was born. The Space age gives a lot of new units into the game. Here is the brief rundown of the new buildings and units. Space dock is the link between these two worlds; the people cannot survive with out it. Space Turrets is the new defense mechanism to defend the borders. The Robot Farm is a farm that does not require the use of humans to be productive. Anti-Missile Battery is a very important piece of equipment, as it is the only defense against a nuclear attack. One of the best new units is the Spy Satellite, as it will provide important information on what the other nations are doing. Palisades is a new type of wall. The new Wonder is an Orbital Space Station; the advantage of this wonder is that it will give a moral boost to all of the space units. The last new thing added is a calamity: the Meteor Storm. These burning rocks will cause a great outcry to any player that it is used upon. The only people that can cause these meteor storms are the prophets.

There have been new campaigns added that further enhances the game. One of them is set in the Roman Empire and their quest for world domination. The next one is in World War II, when the United States was dealt a humiliating and devastating blow in Pearl Harbor, and the dropping of the world's first atomic bomb. Last set of missions is set in the last age, which prove to be very interesting to saythe least!

The game play is excellant and if you liked the first Empire Earth, you are gonna love the expansion. Worth buying and playing and playing and playing. The game has its RE-BIRTH!

4.0 out of 5 stars Under-estimated, 26 Jul 2004
If stratagy is your thing, this is perfect. Maybe not as perfected as AoE (If you dont know what AoE is then you not the right kind of player), but its streched out over thosands of years. The map tools and editors are also great, with a large varied selection of buildings and units, and triggers to help create your own maps. The campains are varied and interesting, with hundreds of possible units and statagies. The 3d engine gives it a nice depth for observing the battlefeild.
On the other hand, wheras there are formations and orders galore, the pathfinding AI is under par, with troops going into battle in a Saturday-night mob rather than a Cossacks changing of the guard.
Overall a varied and balanced game, with a lot to offer.

2.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars? don't think so!, 7 Sep 2003
Empire Earth is a wanna be age of empires! I got a few yrs back and never did think it was good. basically you get a big army go attack thier base get your arse kicked they come for you they get battered thn you go for them with a bigger army and that there base out!... and relizes they have another 50 around the map!!! So, you take them all out, and then see that they have completed another base where you first went! How broing and annoying!
And the ages?!? What is up with that??? there is no stratagy to it! it changes all the time, and can go up to abnormal amount, so you have to get so many villagers that you only have about 5 population for an army!
Okay... i gave it 2 stars and not 1, some aspects of the game are OKAY not good just okay!
But all-in-all not a worth while game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Empire Earth: Art of Conquest... almost.
They say war is as much art as science (like most things if you ask me!). Well, "Empire Earth: Art of Conquest" doesn't quite make the grade as a work of art, in terms of gameplay... Read more
