The plot in this film is rather intricate, why I don't know, but it concerns the first fallen angel who has caused destruction on mankind throughout history. He's on his way to be resurrected. (This is the shortened version)
This film was made by the German director Ollaf Ittenbach whose probably best known for Dard Divorce although i believe this version to have been cut, amongst others.
So, let's forget the plot because this is one of low budgets biggest or highest body counts in a gorefest that's gotta be seen to be believed. Exploding heads, bodies and general mayhem. I first saw this on a German vhs in that language and it made no difference to me that I didn't understand any of the dialogue. The action spoke volumes. When it came out on dvd it became a must buy and I'll tell you something else. Watch this with the German audio first. Ignore the English dub. I promise you that your first view should be like this. Later when you've recovered from the exhilaration try the film with the English language but be prepared to laugh yourself silly. It's not the best German To English translation and I suspect it was done on purpose to contain so many ridiculous and funny bits of conversation, one liners and packed with humour. This is one of the best gorefests out there and it's brilliant fun.
Extras include a making of and trailers. USA Release but plays Region zero.

It's not often that I enjoy a movie as much as I enjoyed "Premutos". In one word, this film is amazing!!! The first half concentrates primarily on the background of Premutos through his various incarnations in human form. His story stretches right from the time of Christ, through the Black Death, the witch-burnings of the Inquisition and World War II. The story is told through flashbacks of Premutos' current form - that of Matthias, a teenager like any other. Despite what some say, the flashback sequences are easy to follow.

In the second half, everything changes. Premutos breaks out of Matthias and awakens an army of zombies, who proceed to attack and messily devour Matthias' family. The family are not entirely helpless and fight back using an assortment of weapons including pistols, a shotgun, a sword, A TANK, AND A CHAINSAW!!!!! The blood literally spills out of control in the climatic final 30 munutes, although there is a sustained level of gore throughout the film.

"Premutos" is right up there with Peter Jackson's "Braindead" in the hierarchy of gore. No horror fan or gorehouund should be without this film in their collection. BUY IT NOW!!!! You won't regret it...

BRING ON THE BLOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HASH(0x9ed55300) out of 5 stars The goriest movie ever? 2 Feb. 2003
By web surfer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Olaf Ittenbach has created a marathon gore fest with Premutos. Finally this infamous German film has been released on dvd in the US. The plot is about a fallen angel named Premutos who raises the dead to take over the world. Only a group of heavily armerd party-goers stand in his way. Things get messy often as bodies are blown to bits and hacked apart via axe, sword, and chainsaw. There's even a tank in the blood soaked finale. Perhaps the highest body count in any zombie flick, at 139. Premutos easily rivals Dead Alive as the goriest movie ever made, yet also contains the comedic element that Jackson pulled off so well. The violence is so over the top and relentless that it becomes absurd. This is just what Ittenbach wanted. The movie isn't supposed to be taken seriously, the other reviewers must not understand the premise of the gore flick. That's ok, average horror fans won't get it but us splatter freaks will eat it up.
The dvd itself contains the dubbed English audio (so poorly done and hilariously bad that it's entertaining on it's own) and the original in German. There are trailers for other movies but no trailers or commentary for Premutos unfortunately. However, there is a documentary on the making of Premutos that is very cool as it contains lots of behind the scenes footage and reveals certain gore effects. Interviews with the cast members are also included. Overall, a very enjoyable movie for it's low budget feel. Definitely cause for celebration if you're a gorehound. Don't hesitate to pick this bad boy up! Hopefully Shock o Rama will release Ittenbach's other gore epics Black Past and the Burning Moon on dvd also.

HASH(0x9ebdf198) out of 5 stars A gore and cheese sandwich 27 Jan. 2004
By Agent Nick Castle - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
Premutos is reportedly the "original" fallen angel with his own hell, whose goal is to raise an army from the dead and reap havoc on the living-taking the world by storm. We are able to follow the lineage of the "chosen one," whose duty as the son of Premutos, is to prepare and protect the fallen angel at the time of his return. The current "chosen one" happens to be a whiny teenager whose antics and quirky family serve as a vehicle for humor.
If taken seriously, the movie will seem interminably protracted and annoying. However, if one is able to appreciate the absurdity of the gore, violence, and dialogue then the film is doable. The narration is cheesy and the dubbing sub-par...however, I am told by a German friend that this said dubbing was actually comparable to the original acting (in that both are horrible). The film was rich with gore and splatter including projectile hematemesis, exploding bodies, gunshots to the head, groin-chomping, loin-stomping, head-splitting, char-broiling, saber-sticking, drawn-and-quartering, and party-going...all of which span over a millennium.
Extras on the DVD include several advertisements and numerous trailers for other Shock-O-Rama movies including seduction, retro-seduction, and spoof movies-all of which seem to be soft-core porn. The only extra on the DVD worth viewing is the "Making of Premutos" as it details behind-the-scenes info on the gore and production efforts.
This movie should only be purchased by true fans of the genre-i.e., gore, the living dead, off-beat humor, or by college students majoring in German. Furthermore, the viewer should be patient as the movie tends to grow on you. I've read comparisons to Dead Alive (a far better film)--if you have not seen this Peter Jackson masterpiece, you should do so prior to watching Premutos.

HASH(0x9ec69cf0) out of 5 stars Zombies and a tank 30 Sept. 2005
By Mr. Lee A. Marquardt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Imagine a zombie movie with a tank at the end. A tank doing bad things. This is premutos. You have to love it!

Bad script, bad acting, lousy dubbing (dubbed by one person, by the sound of it, but strangely funny for this reason), but a compelling gore-fest, with more outrageous violence than you can poke a stick at, including some sickening testicle squashing action for our hero and a soccer ball.

Premutos. You won't regret it if you love gore. And if you don't love gore, why are you looking at a movie called Premutos?

HASH(0x9eba48f4) out of 5 stars Just as gory as Braindead! 9 Nov. 2009
By Marc-Alexandre Duchesne - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
I had really low expectations for this movie because of the low rating that it has on IMDB, but I loved it and I realized that it has a low rating only because most of the people that rated it badly took it seriously when it's a movie that really shouldn't be taken seriously! Honestly, the only reasons why a lot of Olaf Ittenbach's movies have such low ratings is because they have bad acting and they're stupid! Ok, those are good reasons to trash a lot of movies, but not low budget movies that are all about gore! Most of Ittenbach's movies are very entertaining, funny (in a stupid way) and gory and that's all that they're supposed to be! People who hate movies because of bad acting shouldn't be allowed to review low budget gory movies because acting isn't important in those movies! Anyway, this movie is very entertaining, it has many pretty damn funny parts, it has some pretty cool main characters and it's INSANELY gory! The effects are not very good, but they're very good for the budget! They're over-the-top and really bloody!

For gore fans ONLY. You're not a fan of low budget gory movies and you hate bad acting? Don't watch it or watch it, but don't rate it because your opinion on low budget gory movies is pretty much worthless. Low budget gory movies should be rated based on how entertaining and gory they are.

HASH(0x9ed55870) out of 5 stars A sick, gory, violent masterpiece of lowbudget cinema 3 Aug. 2002
By snake - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Olaff Ittenbach's first shot on film feature,Premutos, takes it's place up there in gory B masterpieces with Peter Jackson's Braindead (Dead-Alive), and Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator. This movie really doesn't take itself seriously on many level..it's over the top gore will have you squirming, but at the same time laughing your a** off. This is what horror movies are all about.
Olaff Ittenbach casts himself in the main role about a tale of a falen angel that has walked the earth as early as christ's death on the cross. From start to finish this movie is a blood gushing, head popping, zombie stomping masterpiece of it's genre. If the typical Hollywood trash such as Scream and Jeepers Creepers has you yawning and swearing for it's dvd purchase...than this movie is for you. Over the top gore, slapstick comedy, and a really great time.
