Animal Crossing with Memory Card 59 (GameCube)

This is a life simulation with a twist, all the villagers are animals. There isn't much of a storyline, your given a house, which you have to pay off, and then you can do pretty much whatever you want. Graphically, this game is brilliant, and very cutesy. There are a wide variety of characters, including, Nook the racoon, Copper, the police dog, and Nibbles the squirrel.

Now the gameplay is fantastic, theres the museum to fill, by finding fossils, fish, bugs and paintings. These can also be sold to make money. The villagers all have a load of different jobs for you, usually giving something to another character or collecting something. You can obtain money by selling whatever you can to increase your house and kit it out as you like, and there are a number of items to buy including beds, wardrobes, rockets, and different costumes for your character.

Best of all, the game changes over time, as it plays in real time. Different characters move in and leave, so that no two villages are the same on any two copies of the game! This has an impact as some fish and bugs can only be caught at certain times of the year.

Some of the other nice touches are being able to create your own costumes, AND unlocking various Nes Games including Donkey Kong-and this is only the tip of the ice berg.

This game is aimed at children with its nice, friendly looks and gameplay and yet adults will find it enchanting with loads to do. There are those who might be put off by its bright colours and cute graphics, but for anyone who just wants a great game, you must buy this now!

You start of on a train and are given an indirect way to name your character and town. a blue cat named Rover becomes your new friend on the train, and hooks you up with a sha-I mean extremely small house.

When you pay of your debt for the house (wich is quite challenging) he expands the building untill you have a second floor basment, and very sizable main floor.

During the time you pay off, you collect items for your house, stationary to send letters on, furniture and carpet, and wallpaper for your house, seashells, fossils, fish, and bugs to donate to the museum, or display in your home.

You also have a chance to be close friends with a cat, fish, frog, or even an occasional kangaroo! If you ignore them for a time, they will get snappy. If you send them a letter, they can send one back (possibly with a present) that says your letter confused them, or to thank you.

Another wonderful feature of the game, is the passage of time. A 24 hour, 60 seconds a minute clock, works with the game so that it's the same time there as it is in real life! Snow in winter, cherry blossoms in spring, green leaves in summer, and red and orande leaves for autum. You even receive presents on your birthday which include a birthday cake from Mom!

Overall, some might say the graphics are bad or unworthy of nintendo quality, but in truth, it matches perfectly with the unfolding story of your character, and the cheery nature of the town. You can even design clothes that come out just the way you had wanted.

Finally, I must say, that it's just yet one of Nintendo's, classic and entertaining, addictive (good thing right...?) and wonderful peices.

No regrets. It's full of life and expression. This odd-ball life sim i prefer more than The Sims;there's no annoying "i want food" "dress me!". This is YOUR world and you do as you like.

Originally on the N64, this does show through but playing it you'll forget all that if you can adjust to the idea of a slightly 'sweet' world, but its so cool, i dont care.

You start off without any cash or home, you move to (your town) and pick 1 of 4 houses. The house is basically bare, but you fill it up and get it looking how you want it. Money is easy to make-doing errands for neighbours, digging up fossils, selling fish, insects or other items like fruit, furniture, clothes, wallpaper etc etc.

There are loads of items in this game, litterally thousands, and everyone has their own town and house they create. For me, i imagine a spookey upstairs bedroom, cool Japanese stlye living room and an arcade basement. Need to pay off more debts, but im on my way there.

The thing that real put this over the edge was the fact that there are about 10 NES games in there somewhere. I love the classics and i can't wait to fill my basements with them.

GBA linkability also comes, giving you a desert island with another holiday house on. Now with 2 houses to decorate, i've got work to do!

Look past the cutesy appearence and you'll find a fun game, where the characters live with you, celebrating your birthday, Christmas, New years etc.
