Sam Shaber is an artist of enormous talent. Her vocal range is exceptional, and her lyrics are poetry that will send shivers down the spine. "Eighty Numbered Streets" has been a long time coming.. Many of the tracks appear on previous albums, but they are given new life by the presence of a strong backing band and the production by Shawn Mullins.

It's said that you should only write what you know.. After the death of a close friend and more recently her father, Sam writes loss and personal tragedy all too well. "Rain and Sunshine" and "Solitaire" reflect this and are as cathartic as they are uplifting. The album has a cheerful side too, with fun (almost raunchy) numbers like "Tempting" and "When the Roses Run Dry", the latter being an ode to lifelong love, with a distinctly country sound. Favourites from her live set are here too, "Eldorado" and "All of This"... Close your eyes and you could be in a coffee shop, off Central Park.

As a whole, the album showcases Sam's versatility and talent very well. Just look out for her next UK tour!
