Synopsis

SPACE: 1999 is Gerry Anderson's mid-1970s sci-fi series starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. On September 13, 1999, Earth's moon is torn from its orbit when a radioactive waste site explodes, sending Moonbase Alpha and its crew--including Commander John Koenig (Landau) and Dr. Helena Russell (Bain)--on a journey through the galaxy. This collection presents the entire first season, featuring the episodes Breakaway, Black Sun, Earthbound, Alpha Child, The Full Circle, The Troubled Spirit, The Infernal Machine, and many more.

Space 1999 was one of those shows I remembered from my childhood, particularly the opening theme tune and the montage of images, my favourite being the eagle spinning round and slamming into the moon's surface.
I bought this box set even though I had every episode on video from the time ITC released it originally, needless to say those videos have gone because the DVD releases are superb!
From the moment the eagle does a fly by you know you are in for something special and Carlton have done a masterful job of remastering the series. Each episode looks fantastic, colour and sound is superb and the special effects somehow look better.
The special features are also high quality and I would urge any fan of Space 1999 to go out and buy this now! You won't be disappointed

This is a fantastic series that has everything you could want from Gerry Anderson. With Martin Landau and the Bewildered Barbera Bain.It made my childhood and even had me scared at some stages at the age of about eight. The Special effects still look good on this brilliant set. Carlton have done a first rate job with heaps of extras that are to many to list here. My best episodes are, 'Voyagers return' & 'The guardian of Piri'. The list price for this is a snip and it should be snapped up before it is deleted.

Excellent quality DVDs, lots of extras (interviews, directors, behind the scenes,special fxs, spaceships models) make this boxset a MUST if you're a fan of the Alphans !

To put it simple: If you liked the original STAR TREK tv-series, you will also like SPACE:1999. (If you did NOT like STAR TREK; then stay away from SPACE:1999!!!). Read more
