5.0 out of 5 stars Supreme, sublime, so good, 27 Sep 2002
The Darkness only sound like 80's rock if you weren't around in the 80's...but that is not to detract from the brilliance of the Darkness. I heard them on the Radio last week, and from the first second of the song I was hooked. I just had to buy the CD as soon as it came out. If you like, or liked, rock music, but can do without the shouty, rappy, american style - then this is for you.

Utterly mad. Utterly brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars the darkness rock, 8 Sep 2002
don't be fooled by this bands moniker. slip the darkness into yr CD player and rays of pure brilliant sunshine will pour out of yr speakers. they are hot summer haze, a heart thumpin', head bangin' amyl rush. and this is a hands in the air, all together now, future jukebox classic.

vampires will turn to dust in the brightness of their sound. walls will crumble. fisticuffs will break out. frowns will turn upside down. knees will get dirty. beers will be spilt. hearts will be broken.

the darkness aren't stupid. they are very clever, very witty - sonically, lyrically, visually. but they're not up their own arse. they have groupies for that.

the darkness just rock. big riffs, twangly bits of guitar that i can't remember hearing and enjoying so much since i was 13 and liked all that eighties metal.

buy this record and you can tell your friends that you've liked 'em since the beginning. live loud. live fast. keep on living!

As George Liquor might have put it: This is music for real men! Men's music! But Mom's like 'em too!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Darkness Are The Best Band In The World! It's True!, 14 May 2003
Now basically all I'm saying is the truth. You won't find a better rock band than The Darkness.

I am a huge Darkness fan and I have been since I heard the track 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' on the radio purely by chance as my CD player batteries had died.
Thank the lord for cheap batteries.

I have since then seen them in concert, own EVERY release by them (My 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' EP and 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman' CD single are signed by every member of the band and Dan the guitarist signed them with love.. I'm strangely proud of that!)

The music is great, its pure, its got something that most of the stuff you hear today lack.
Its got emotion and feeling.

The bass lines are fantastic for a good mosh, the guitar playing is astounding (especially live, Justin played the guitar BEHIND THE BACK OF HIS HEAD), the drumming is powerful and the trousers are tight! Just look at that leotard as well.

Every song you hear by them will have you nodding your head and trying to sing along though you don't really know the words. The 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' EP is a perfect introduction to The Darkness and each track has it's own feel and sound.

The Darkness are the rock band to lead us into the future.

This band will rock your world, and if you get a chance to see them live DON'T MISS IT!

The Darkness Rock!

-Rich
