First, this composition of young Beethoven from late Classical period is brilliant. Second, Maria Kliegel and Nina Tichman play together superbly and their techniques are amazing. Thirdly, the recording has captured a convincing cello-piano balance and is first-rate. The record is of reference class.

The sonata for horn and piano - where the cello replaces the horn - sounds great but does not sound as bright and lively as the original sonata with the horn.The mozart variations are each short, lively and smoothly played but if you're going to buy this cd it is worth the price for the cello and piano concerto in F major and the cello and piano concerto in G minor alone.Words simply cannot convey the quality of the playing by the soloists in these two pieces.The piano playing is certainly the best I have heard in my life.And if you like a variety of music you will find it on this cd.
