The horse has wheels attached to the base of its legs, so it can be sat on and pushed along. It's fairly high off the ground giving an average two-year-old plenty of leg room. The horse can also be attached to a rocking base by the use of two screws and hoops. The toy is aimed at 12 months and above. While the horse is stable, a one year old would definitely need supervision and a two year is able to move the horse along the ground as it rocks.
Mainly an activity toy, when detached from the base this little horse has also made a great pull along toy. However it is also good for role play and imaginative play. It has been fed and watered many a time in our household. The fact that the saddle can be removed has been very useful in teaching manipulative skills such as undoing a zip and Velcro.
This is a good value toy that can be played with over and over again in a variety of ways for as much as four to five years. The Pony comes assembled with batteries also included (3x R44 batteries) --Emma Barratt
