Amazon.co.uk Review
Fans of extreme sports games looking for a diversion from Tony Hawk will want to sign up for the road trip in Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2. You'll join 11 other riders on a tricked-out tear across the US from Oklahoma City to Hawaii.

Before you can hang with the likes of Mat "The Condor" Hoffman or Ruben "Pollo" Alcantara, it's advisable to practise your chops on the free ride or session modes, especially if you're a newcomer to tricks-based sport games. It can take a good while on Free Ride's open-ended play time to achieve mastery of the complicated sets of controller taps needed to win trick points.

Level access in session or free ride modes depends on what you've unlocked in the road trip phase. To get to the next destination, you'll need to complete a set of four challenges not once but three times (once each in rookie, semi-pro and pro modes). That can be a daunting challenge, especially for beginners. More experienced players may find the search for the final trick that will push them to the next level a little tedious. That said, it's not hard to find a satisfying BMX groove and zoom along on your road trip.

The game also includes several multiplayer options, including HORSE, Tag, Halfpipe Hell, Graffiti War and Push , where you try to out-trick your opponent and make his side of the screen smaller by increasing your side of the screen. Graphically, the game detail is pretty awesome--from the bikes and riders to the glitzy lights of the Las Vegas background. The game is also populated with some fine tunes, ranging from LL Cool J to Iggy Pop. --Agen Schmitz

5.0 out of 5 stars Mat Hoffmans is a class game. A true BMX'ers game, 29 Oct 2004

(REAL NAME)
This game, Mat Hoffmans Pro BMX 2, is a superb game! The producers have crammed as many tricks as they can into a small controller. You can do a wide range of tricks from backflip tailwhip to a simple X-up. You can also be a wide range of charactors from Mat Hoffman to the outstanding Nate Wessel. There are many different options to choose from aswell. You can go on a mode where you have to complete loades of different challanges. Lets say you have to reach 80,000 points (from doing tricks) in ten minutes to complete the level. Also, if you do lots of tricks in a row without falling off, you get into adrellenin. This enables you to do extra tricks which get you ten times more points than usuall tricks. But this game is certainly well worth getting!

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Better, 21 Oct 2002
This new installment of the Mat Hoffmans series a a big improvement on the first, the animation looks very realistic, the levels are a lot bigger and more life like (cars, people etc) among other stuff. However, the game STILL lacks tricks. Ok this time round they've given the rider the ability to modify tricks by sticking a no footer or no hander in (or combinations of the two), but why did they just stop with that? I'm thinking that this game has sold it's self second best to tony hawks pro skater again. Anyway enough bitchin, it's well worth buying if you just like this sort of game, but if your a rider like me and you want to session some street with Butcher or rip up the park with Ruben then i wouldn't bother, you can't even crooked grind.
