Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Three months have passed since the internet crime organization World Three was defeated by Lan and his virus-busting pal, Mega Man.exe. Just as the world began to feel safe, a new threat rears its digital head: an evil Internet syndicate called the Net-Mafia Gospel. Will Lan and Mega Man be up to this new challenge?

The gameplay of Mega Man Battle Network 2 is almost identical to the first game--it’s an isometric RPG with a great battle system. You spend half the time in the "real world" as Lan, and the other half in the Internet as the anti-virus program Mega Man.exe. Solving puzzles and getting power-ups (and of course fighting baddies) is the core of this game.

The crowning glory of Mega Man Battle Network 2 is its battle system. The arcade-style battles are still in real-time. However, there are some important changes from the first game. Mega Man doesn’t automatically regain HP after a battle--he needs to find special chips to help him regain health. Also, there are now four battle-styles from which Mega Man can choose, depending on the type of chips he collects: heat, aqua, wood, and electricity. These chip types affect Mega Man's effectiveness against different enemy types. The battle screens have also changed; unique terrains now make battles more varied. And lastly, there are now over 200 chips to collect.

Mega Man Battle Network's story was a little shallow, and geared toward a younger crowd. While Battle Network 2 is still rated for ages three and up, the story is darker and fuller--and with an enemy like the Net-Mafia Gospel, the story now becomes a definite plus to the game.

Mega Man Battle Network 2 clearly upgrades all the good parts from the original game with some refreshing refinements. This is a must-have for any Mega Man or RPG fan.--Bryan Karsh

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the rest? Yep!, 10 Jul 2002
By C. Smith MJ Smith "luddite" (SW England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Megaman Battle Network 2 is the follow-up to the huge selling game; Megaman Battle Network. As a fan of the Megaman games, I must say that the Battle Network series has strayed the most from the original Megaman formula.

You play as Lan Hikari, and his digital Net Navi, MegaMan.EXE. As you go through the net', you are able to pick up various Battle Chips, and combined in a certain order, these will become the legendary Rare Battle Cards!

The most unusual GOSPEL Navi in this game is GateMan.EXE, being an invention of the Japanese Megaman fans.

Unlike the previous game, you life is not replenished after each battle, making this game more of a challenge than it's predessor. There are hundreds of new and unusual Virus on the net' (The dragon being my favourite). Each of them having their own features, and Battle Chips to collect.

The game also brings in the new idea of Armour which are of the elements: Wood, Fire, Aqua and Elec Armour. You can also combine these Armours with "Styles": The Styles are what determine how you can equip different types of Battle Chips. Some will enable you to equip more Navi Chaips than others, and some will enable you to equip more Battle Chips in general.

Overall, this game presents more of a challenge than BN1, the replay value is GOLD, you can play it over and over, and never get bored! (Well, I might give some of the jokes a miss...) This game is set to go for gold, and then some!

Chao,
Jean.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Megaman game ever!, 11 Jan 2003
Megaman has made a comeback to the GBA screen following his past game 'Megaman Battle Network'.
In Battle Network 2, you play Megaman.exe and his owner Lan.
In the game, it is Lan and Megaman.exe job to defeat Net-Mafia Gospel, an evil team hell-bent on destroying the world!
Megaman.exe now has even more chips to collect (The things that allow him use special weapons) and to be exact: 250.
Megaman can access 18 different styles, including the super powerful HubStyle.

So can you help Megaman.exe and Lan save the world... again?
