Bernard Haitink recorded all the Bruckner symphonies (0-9) with the RCO in the 1960s/70s, coming back to Nos7/9 later and Nos 3-5/8 with the VPO in the digital era. The Vienna remakes of nos3&8 are on offer here, and wholly recommendable they are.

No3 is the best available recording of the 1878 edition and Haitink's No8 has been unfairly compared to late recordings by Karajan and Giulini with the same orchestra. It is exceptionally well done, and for my money Karajan's scherzo and finale are a little tame, and Giulini's Bruckner is too sluggish.

Hard to find these days, but if a good copy surfaces, don't wait.
