4.0 out of 5 stars Suspence!, 16 Jul 2002
By A Customer
This film is okay. It isn't as good as parts 1 and 2, but it beats the pants off parts 8 and 9! It has a very high body count and some gross death scenes(check out the party hooter through the eye scene!) The story line is a bit far fetched (girl brings Jason back from the dead by accident when using powers of the mind to resurrect her father. Thus begins the killing sprees, sex scenes and bad acting...these films are great!)
The reason why I decided to review this film was because of the suspence! F13th films usually lack suspence, they concentrate more on impressive death scenes and comedy. They never scare me and I want to be scared when watching horror films(which is why I love parts 1 and 2, they were full of suspencefull scenes that scared the s**t outta me, aswell as inventive gory deaths, sex scenes and witty dialoge). I was surprised to find some genuinley scary scenes in this film. The tension buils up well and not all deaths are GRRRRRRR - STAB - BLEED -DEAD. The scene where the boy runs through the woods as Jason stalks him wielding a big sharp nail was pretty good along with the bit where Tina's mother and doctor try to escape from the invincible killing machine. The scene that stands out the most is the one where Maddy attempts to hide in a cabin/shed type building in the woods and Jason follows her. She sneaks around in an attempt to escape and i was so scared when watching it. The direction of this scene was spot on and it is rare to see this build up to a death in these films. Like the chase around the darkened school corridoors in Prom Night and the Build up to the "axe in the face" death in F13th part 1, this scene was inventive and nail biting and it really got me! Watch with the lights off and enjoy!

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, Boring and Boring, 28 Oct 2003

Like anyone would like to see Jason against Carrie.
This sequel is almost as weak as the fifth film, I get a bit upset with Tommy Jarvis's absence in this one cause I enjoyed him in the fourth and sixth but not the fifth.Basically the idea of this film is pinched from the fourth film.
Take it from me you will not enjoy this film it is just a poor attempt to update the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Here we go again..., 19 Oct 2003
I thought we've had this story six times before? Well, before I criticize the film I should better point out the positive aspects. For instance Jason. Here we are introduced to Kane Hodder, who has starred in four Friday films now. He is quite an amazing fellow. Secondly there are some nice FX-effects. Jasons half decomposed face gives the film a good touch. But what really dissapointed me where most of the death scenes. The axe in the face was cool, and so was the party hooter in the eye, but when one of the most ruthless and violent serial killers of film-history gets a grass cutter I expect him to use the damn thing in a neat way! Not just wave it around like some mentally disturbed gardener! Apart from that we just get some of the usual stuff... Pulling people under water. A lot of stabbing and a few other things. You get the usual character ensemble (The nasty girl, the nice girl with telecinetic (lol!) powers, the cool guy who's usually called 'Brad' and the stupid nerd. The whole telecinetic powers business just makes you want to inflict pain upon yourself after a while. I only gave it 2/5 because of some of the effects... If you want some decent slasher flicks check out Friday the 13th 1 & 2, Halloween or Nightmare On Elm Street...
