From the Back Cover

In the spirit of Gladiator and Xena-Warrior Princess, "Amazons and Gladiators" is an epic tale of good versus evil.

In a remote village at the edge of the Ancient Roman Empire, a young girl is enslaved and her family butchered but the sadistic Roman General Crassius. (Patrick Bergin -

Patriot Games, Sleeping with the Enemy).

As a beautiful young woman, Serena is a reluctant slave-dancer, but after stabbing a depraved Roman senator in self-defence she is forced to escape from her master in the company of a fearsome Amazonian warrior (Jennifer Rubin - The Crush, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3). Under the protection of the Amazons, Serena learns the art of mortal combat and, driven by her hatred of Crassius, becomes one of the most accomplished and deadly fights in the tribe.

Unbeknown to Serena, Crassius is now stationed as Governor to a nearby province and has taken her estranged sister as a willing slave and mistress. Captured again by the Romans after an abortive attempt at Crassius’s life, Serena finds herself in the savage gladiatorial arena pitted against impossible odds, but resolved to avenge her parents’ death at any cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inoffensive and fun film, if a tad cheesy., 14 May 2004
I read a poor review of this film and feel obliged to respond. I really like the genre, Gladiator being one of my favourite films of all time. I bought Amazons and Gladiators expecting a low budget more of the same. There are a few really neat plot bits within this, and it's unfair to suggest that the acting is poor. In fact, to be honest it's the fighting that lets the film down if anything.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful script, directing and acting, 21 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Patrick Bergin must have been really scraping the bottom of the barrel when he signed up for this. It didn't take long before I'd given up on the film and was trying to figure out which was worse, the script, the direction or the acting, and sad to say it was probably close to a three way tie! Even the fight scenes, which can often be a relative highlight in this genre of movie, were hugely disappointing. To be honest, this film doesn't even warrant its one star.

4.0 out of 5 stars My humble opinion, 13 Sep 2002
If you like Xena the Warrior princes or the film Red Sonia then you may well like this. Its packed with leather clad amazons, sword fights, fast kicks and a little prophecy and magic. Some of the acting may not be up to scratch and the plot does seem a little rushed in places but other than that its enjoyable to watch.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear...
Well I like Red Sonja, but at least the fight scenes in that are quite good, theres that sweeping musical score and its probably more historically accurate ! Read more
