Classy Botti, 14 Jun 2004
By A Customer
After having heard Chris play on Sting's world tour, I simply plunged in and purchased this CD to discover more about this artist. It's a superb collection of Botti's best songs, both as playing on his own and also being accompanied in a few compositions in three songs. Botti's crisp tone is what makes this album is polished and lovely to listen to, and can be played at the end of a stressful day to unwind your mind, or played quietly at a dinner party for a group pleasure. The style of each song doesn't quite flow and at times seems quite disjointed, yet this is to be expected when the best songs are cherry-picked from various albums with varying moods. This is not a bad thing however, it just takes some time to adapt to. The Blue Nile singing with Botti's trumpet is a divine song and I would purchase the album alone for this fine brandy of a song. The album has very chilled moments like First Wish and the excellent finale with Irresistible Bliss, yet has cheeky and upbeat songs Drive Time and The Way Home, giving a splendid variety of flavour to the album. A great selection of songs, but this is merely the icing on the Botti cake - I seriously suggest one also checks out the other albums Botti has on offer and also the live Night Sessions DVD.
