5.0 out of 5 stars This ain't Ozzy it's FOZZY!!!, 22 Feb 2004
By Mr. C. Watmore "christopherwatmore" (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Fozzy originally formed in 1981, with a strange format of music (Metal) they were shunned by the US Music Companies. Their manager a slightly dodgy character landed them a record deal with a Japanese Company. Only after they hand signed on the dotted line did Fozzy realise the consequences. They had a 20 year contract and had to inhabit Japan for it's duration. Fozzy were stranded. They decided they had to try to make it work and began releasing music. Back in the US and Europe Music Companies got wind of this and began to releasing Fozzy songs covered by different groups for their own finacial gain. Eventually the music scene changed, Metal faded off and Fozzy were forgotten about. Then in 2001 the 20 year contract expired and Fozzy were free to return to the World to reclaim their music and let people know who the true creators of metal were!
Okay so that's the backstory created by Wrestling Genius Chris (Irvine) Jericho and the band Stuck Mojo. In actual fact Fozzy were are just a bunch of guys who in their spare time when they aren't wrestling in front of thousands of people or playing in a 'Real' band get together and jam. It started off as a bit of a joke for all concerned then someone close to them suggested putting out an album. Chris Jericho ever being the larger then life character that he is jumped at this suggestion and with some time and carefully thinking the band released 'Fozzy' their self-titled album of mostly cover songs. It was very successful and this part-time band were now being treated as a serious outfit by the music world, much to the surprise of the band itself. Soon screams came for a second album.
So Fozzy got together and produced this album. 'Happenstance' much the same format as their first huge selling album. This album contains 11 tracks most of which are covers but the surprise being that Fozzy or should that be Jericho penned four tracks of his own for the album. This album was going to be a bit professional so Jericho wanted something original. Needless to say the album is just as big and just as successful as the first. Maybe more so because of the original tracks which actually allow us to see the real Fozzy. Jericho is a really talented entertainer wrestler Saturday-Monday, Hockey Player Tuesday & Wednesdays, Rockstar the rest of the week. His vocals are very surprising and his ability to write is also very good.
The top tracks for me on this album are:
To Kill A Stranger (A Song based on WWE's destruction of WCW)
Crucify Yourself
Happenstance
With the Fire (A song about the wrestling superstar that is Chris Jericho)
Big City Nights
The album is one I listen to time and time again. As a Fozzy fan I also look forward to Spring 2004 when the 3rd Fozzy album is released with 100% Original & Fresh Chris Jericho written tracks. This will be the first Real Fozzy album, no more covers and the band will be launching as a full on real act so expect to see some live shows offered up as well. Geat on board the Fozzy train now and don't be the last to fall for music of the talented Moongoose McQueen (Jericho).

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant, 25 April 2003
For those of you who may be put this album because of the fact that the lead singer is a wrestler, you should not be. I am a huge IRON MAIDEN , PRIEST fan and I can honestly say that this album is every inch as good as some of the mentioned despite many covers. The original FOZZY tracks are superb and the covers feel much more chunkier than some of the originals. This , like their debut album, should be a must for METAL fans who apprieciate good music, you will love it as it gets better with every listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moongoose McQueen and his merry men return!, 25 Jun 2002
By Steveweiser (Sydenham, London) - See all my reviews

We knew they'd be back, but we couldn't stop them from rocking us one more time! Fozzy are back! And dare I say it, Happenstance is a better album than their previous self-titled album.

Moongoose McQueen and the boys have been in rock music for over 20 years, and their experience tells on this album. Do we need to tell you what the songs sound like? They're all Fozzy originals (no matter what others may claim), so you know they're quality all around.

You say that Fozzy have reclaimed their crown as the best heavy metal band around? THEY NEVER LOST IT! Buy Happenstance NOW!!!

And by the way, for those idiots who say that Moongoose McQueen is really WWE wrestler Chris Jericho under an assumed name, you're dead wrong - the fact that McQueen and Jericho look like each other is a strange twist of fate!
