3.0 out of 5 stars Just for the TRUE fans of MMA!!!, 26 Jan 2005
UFC 35 is a mixed one. Dubbed Throw Down it has five fights in all, with two being title matches. The actual start is quite impressive, with a nice usual introduction clip to the actual event. Than we meet the guys who will be taling over the fights...then usual Mike Goldberg, alongwith Jeff Osborne and Randy Couture WHAT A BONUS having him at ringside, really gives some fantastic talk throughout the bouts. When the bouts start you wil notice that no ringside walk-in is shot...i.e you dont see the fighters walk down to the ring, they just start in the ring with there names read out ect. Not a bad-thing but it ADDS to the fight IMHO when you watch and see them down to the ring. The fights on offer are #1 Riccardo Almeida VS Andrei Semenov who makes his debut tonight. This is a good fight. #2 Chuck Leddell VS Amar Suloev yet another debut from another Russian. This is a Really GOOD fight. #3 Dave Menne the middleweight champion VS Murilo Bustamante. This is a fairly good fight, but nothing special. #4 Ricco Rodriguez VS Jeff Monson, and was a so and so fight but fairly one-sided. #5 THE BIG ONE....Jens Pulver VS BJ Penn with Pulver defending his Lightweight title. This is a CLASSIC match and really does deserve the title of MAIN EVENT. All the fights are good, but they aint slug fests...these are on the ground and standing, with either knockouts or judges deciding. Godo stuff, however I feel NEWBIES might think it isnt in the Big league, they like Ortiz ground N' pound, well that aint here. Also there is no bonus material. Doesnt bother me to much but still it would have been nice.
