Documentary not action - and my spidey sense didn't warn me!, 16 Jul 2002
By A Customer
In the absence of any background details/synopsis on the content of the DVD, you could be forgiven for expecting some episodes. This is not the case. Net result - I was fascinated and my young son bored. If you're after various illustrators and folk discussing the whole Spiderman thing then this is worth buying ( and like I said I found it very interesting ) but as a shameless leap on the Spiderman Movie bandwagon ( the pack includes some promo postcards ) this is a miss if you're after stories and episodes.

Worth watching., 18 Dec 2005
I, unlike many people I know, purchased this DVD, fully aware this was a documentry into the background of, not just spider-man, but super-heroes, and their history. This DVD shows how comic book characters have evolved from the comics in which they were first introduced, into television, movie, and even video game stars. It features interviews with a number of comic book artists, writers, etc... which gives the viewer a different point of view when looking at these characters, and the world in which they live. However, this is not really for kids, not due to violence, language etc, but simply because this is a serious documentry. This film would appeal perhaps to the more serious comic fan, or the older comic fan.

This is one of the best documentaries I have seen this year!!, 7 Jun 2006
Ah yes! A fond trip towards memory lane. That's' how I felt before and after watching this fantastic documentary about the superheroes. In today's modern society its quite amazing how these earlier generation superheroes have affected the society we live in, they have become icons and legends but the true legends are the people in this documentary who all give an excellent speech about their own creations and imaginations.
Back in my childhood my superhero favourite was always Spiderman (hence hes on the cover!!!) and I was thrilled to see how much description they had on him and especially after seeing the classic 1960's Spiderman cartoon theme pop up, I felt like I was a child again. But theres loads more than you can think of, with documentary on almost every superhero of the generation: Superman; has an excellent documentary on the Man of Steel, Batman The Dark Knight, Wonder Woman, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Doctor Doom and others that are mentioned by name; Sub Mariner (not one that I remember well), Galactus, X Men, and loads more.
For a recommendation; this documentary is perfect for today's adults who will definitely have fond memories of their youth as I did. As for the today's younger generation it is difficult to judge whether youngsters would want to learn and know about previous superheroes while they would probably appeal to today's heroic films such as Harry Potter or the Chronicles of Narnia.
However the case, it doesn't matter this documentary deserves to be seen, to get a more glimpse view of the generation back in its hey day compared to todays technology-fuelled generation.
Definately worth buying, Five Stars for such a masterpiece.
